Trouble Shooting Airless Paint Sprayers

What happens here

The presenter introduces the problem: a Graco 395 Ultra Max II airless sprayer stopped working, lost pressure, and was cycling as if it had lost its prime. He explains that initial attempts to re-prime the sprayer by flipping the prime knob up and down, and visually checking the intake tube and prime tube for obvious clogs, were unsuccessful. Minor paint film was found on the intake tube, but not enough to obstruct paint flow, leading them to suspect a more internal issue with the sprayer's pumping mechanism.

Goal: Understand the sprayer malfunction and perform preliminary external checks.

Tools and materials

  • Airless Sprayer — The main equipment being troubleshooted; its prime knob, intake tube, and prime tube are inspected
  • Paint Bucket — Container for paint, connected to the sprayer's intake tube
