Tool Talk Tuesday: Must Have Hidden Gems

today is tool talk Tuesday and I pulled three tools out of my trailer that I want to talk about that I think every painter should have the first one is the whis flex roller so it's a whiz Flex roller frame so what's unique about this you I got you know one of these in my trailer that does not flex and what I mean is this thing actually flexes and there's been times I use this thing to get behind toilets to get behind TVs where I've actually needed to get this thing to flax to paint behind so it's one of those tools that you're not going to use uh like every single day but it does come in handy and it does solve you know a problem here and there it's something that doesn't take a lot of space and I think it's a pretty unique tool that I absolutely love it's made by whz and it is the flex frame you can put any roller it could be a 4in or 6in weenie roller on it and it's going to solve all kinds of problems for you once again getting behind toilets and TVs I think it's one of those must have tools it's pretty inexpensive something you definitely want you know in your trailer another thing I want to talk about I pulled this out of my trailer and you may not have one of these but it's definitely a must have if you're cleaning airless spray guns particularly HBP guns but even like the spray tips and stuff they'll get paint built up around the carbide seat and stuff but it's really hard to get the paint off and it's a pick set right here and this pick set I use all the time for cleaning my hlp guns and airless spray guns and tips now typically the set I grab this one out of here this is you one I've had for quite a while it's got quite a few you know um uh picks in there usually the set that I typically carry just has five in there you only need a couple of them there's a few of them like in a larger set like this I don't think you're ever going to really you know do you any good so I don't think you need a large set you only need a set with a couple that have a pointed pick on it you like this this has a rounded pick it has kind of one that moves off in an angle right there I think that comes in handy typically a five pic set will come with a mirror not sure if you will you'll ever use that but it does come with a pair of large tweezers definitely uh can use that you know all the time in certain situations especially when you're spraying doors and a bug lands in the door or something like that or a leaf to pick it off one of the picks that comes in there is a flat pick this one comes in handy too so I think it's one of those things it's very inexpensive to have if you've never seen it before um it's something I think you should just you know have in your Arsenal for cleaning airless spray guns and hlp Guns and once again the tweezers is come in handy for all kinds of different you know scenarios here's another thing this came straight out of my trailer this is my touch-up brush set so this is the set I use to touch-ups cabinets in Furniture now touch-ups it's an art a skill a craft takes time to learn certain things about doing touch-ups you can you know really make a mess with touch-ups make it show up really bad if you don't use the proper tools you're only as good as your tools you got to have a good set of touch-up brushes now the art of touch-ups is taking matching the touchup with the brush itself I was just doing some touch-ups in here on a piece of furniture that it just had a few tiny little Nicks on it and stuff that something went by and nicked it now I wouldn't want to take a large brush or say a 2in brush or even a brush like this to do a tiny little Nick I'm going to take the match the brush to the size of the neck now this was the brush that I actually did the touchups with it was just this little tiny brush all I did was just dab a little tiny paint on that Nick and more than likely you're not going to see that Nick or ding at all so it's a set of um high quality artist brushes right here soft filament brushes that aren't going to leave brush strokes and they're going to help you out Master the art of touchs this is a full set you can even see it has some unusual brushes like this you never know when you're going to need you know something like that something like this is going to probably cost you a good set around $50 it does even come with a spatula in there so if you're trying to touchup I've done um touch-ups on Venetian plaster and decorative finishes that spatula could come in handy three tools right out of my trailer I think every painter should have
