What happens here
Once the deck board is properly spaced, use a speed square or a straightedge to guide the placement of the deck screws, ensuring they are driven in a straight line and at a consistent distance from the edge of the board. Then, using an impact driver, drive two deck screws through the deck board into each underlying joist. Ensure the screws are driven flush with the surface of the deck board to prevent trip hazards and allow for proper finishing.
