This thing isn't going ANYWHERE! Locked in for justice for sure!!
What happens here
Before installing the deck boards, a protective layer of joist tape (e.g., Trex Protect, DeckWise, or similar bitumen-based tape) is applied to the top surface of all the joists and blocking. This self-sealing, waterproof tape prevents moisture from accumulating between the decking and the wooden joists, which helps to protect the lumber from rot and extend the lifespan of the deck substructure. Following this, the chosen deck boards (e.g., composite, PVC, or pressure-treated wood) are brought onto the deck frame and strategically laid out, ready for installation.
Goal: Waterproof joist tape is applied to protect the joists, and deck boards are brought onto the framed structure.
