What happens here
Begin by ensuring the wooden substructure (likely a joist) is ready. A self-adhering protective flashing, specifically "VYCOR PLUS" by GCP Applied Technologies, is applied to the top surface of the joist. This black, flexible material provides a moisture barrier and protects the wood from rot and water damage. Once the flashing is in place, position a composite decking board flush against the adjacent installed board or according to the desired spacing.
