(17,430 characters)used to doing that other one multiple times last night flipping it up so we can dump salt in our spreader yep Tim have you met Craig before just now just now Tim Craig Craig Tim Alex Craig hey guys I'm stay the dirt monkey and today Craig came out because we are going to be looking at Craig what you call going from from the Stone Age Stone Age to the Space Age these These are Craig's words so what I'm talking about is a brand new Hill tip spreader and Craig correct me if I'm wrong when I met you at a at the Expo you told me that this is the world's most advanced spreader that's correct this is the world's most technologically advanced salt spreader okay so walk me through this thing so that the guys can understand this just as well as I can yeah absolutely so this is what you're looking at is the uh uh Hill tip I Striker 1500 am combination spreader and what that means is this is has a bulk capacity of 1.5 cubic yards with internal integrated tanks uh of up to 140 Gall so okay so this has this actually does both liquid and granular simultaneously that's correct so with this machine you can spread solely if you choose to you can spread and pre-wet uh your material as you spin it off as it comes off the spinner or you can spray with the spray bar as a pre-treat or post treat okay but it does a heck of a lot more than that that's not even that that's just what it can do but correct walk me through more yeah so with this machine uh there there are basically three legs to the the pillar as we'll call it okay so let's be very clear this has a separate spray bar but also the salt itself will get pre-wetted using the controller inside so you can spray it dry you can spray it wet or you can spray pure brine separately so you have three options really with this thing of why this machine is different than anything you see in North America basically how it's built the second thing uh that this comes with is our strik smart controller which features automatic mode ground speed control starts and stops when you start and stop or you can go automatic mode but this machine will tell you how much you're how far you're throwing your material how much you're putting down you can control your lights your strobes you can put Auto vibrate on this to take that off the operator's plate okay okay you you're talking about okay so let's talk about this when you say it'll it'll lay down a prescribed amount of material no matter what speed you're going it'll geofence the lot correct so with this machine if we are just without H trck without Geo fencing a lot we can get onto the controller put a preferred application rate in and and a preferred um spin width for the material put it in automatic mode so when we when the vehicle starts then the machine starts when you stop it will stop and so the operator doesn't have to touch any of that if you want to take it a step further in HRA which is our online portal where all of the data being recorded by this machine is sent for you to report on later in that portal you can geofence your work sites assign a prescribed application rate to it so when the operator gets here two things will happen on the controller they'll get a message are you at the location they hit confirm and start or they simply just pull onto the lot and the machine turns on to what the application rate is for the site and so the operator has not does not have to touch the controller at all okay and it actually gets better but wait there's more wait there's more but wait there's more because if the operator decides to fiddle with the controls on on his own or change up what you want done you from the office can reset those controls and put it back to where you want it plus with your HRA system it will actually tell you exactly where you were in the lot how much material you put down how far it through that material and the only reason that this is important is to eliminate lawsuits that's th% correct so from the portal you'll be able to see every that this machine is doing who did it where where it happened the time it happened how much material was put down how far you threw it to your point you can override the application metrics remotely on this machine so in your example if the operator goes off script if you saw that in real time you could turn those metrics back down to where they are but you can also report on that deviation so if I have a 5 lb per th000 ft application rate here and Tim turned it up to 10 I can I can report on what we call a spread rate conflict and that will tell me where that deviation came from okay now Craig Tim we you said that this does a few things that no other spreader does on the planet you said that you said off camera that this is the world's most advanced spreader why well looking at things contextually through the the the concept of a system for the first time ever contractor will know before they go how much material is required to treat those sites furthermore the machine then when we assign those sites to the controller it optimizes your routes so if if I'm brand new to your team and I arrive at the first site and I don't know where to do where to go next I can hit H track on my controller and it will show me the next closest work site to my location and when I get there all I have to do simply do is pull onto the lot and the machine turns on to what I want it to do or where I can confirm I'm there and hit start and I don't have to guess any longer how much to put down so as a business owner you can maintain maintain profitability and efficiency because you don't have your operators guessing how much to put down but wait there's more cuz he hasn't even talked about any of the stuff he talked about with me yet we're talking about a stainless steel logger we're talking about the the system inside of it the Dual uh the Dual bladder which allows this machine to Work summer spring summer fall so you can amortize the expense of this piece of equipment over the entire season not just over the winter months walk me through all that stuff will you Craig because that these are important features to point out so guys understand the differences absolutely so this machine was designed and built in Northern Finland about 120 Mi south of the Arctic Circle so the specifications of this unit are are are are a lot heavier Duty than what you're seeing in North America to your point point a 15in stainless steel uh spinner disc a 4 and 1/2 in three pitch stainless steel augur 400 lb vibrator an integral tank 140 Gall in the side 1.0 to 1.1 mil thickness here the options you can build these out however your business needs require but this particular unit we're looking at has a pre-wet system which is a treating our material as it's coming off the spinner the second pump here at it uh with the spray bar gives you functionality of doing strictly liquid treatments if you choose to uh work lights strobe lights hose reels these allow guys to treat uh right up to door frames and sidewalk and step areas uh in the springtime in the summertime these could be used for dust control fire retardant weed control water in the flowers in Main Street if you choose to um 400 lb vibrator three gear reduction box up front an encoder that takes the speed of this equipment t times uh in a second buil-in vibrator built-in vibrator correct that is actually positioned behind a stainless steel panel up front that keeps it as far away from the action back here in all the and you can set that vibrate on manual mode you can also set the spinner on burst mode so it's not just you have a dial you have one dial you have two dials and you go and you pre and spray and prey you actually can say exactly how far you cast out that material so you have absolute control and here's the thing right what happens is a little extra material gets left here a little extra a little extra time gets taken up there or a little extra and the little extras is where your profits are actually lost it's not lost all at once in one dumb mistake it's all your profits are lost in a lot of little tiny mistakes over the course of the year that's where a bottom that's where a guy's bottom line gets eaten up correct to a business owner Hill tip machines are designed to take the operator out of the equation as much as humanly possible and keep you in material efficiencies despite yourself the auto mode to your point every time you're in a major parking lot where you're stopping for traffic or pedestrians and forget to turn the spreader off gone or the wasted Sal files behind the vehicle that you didn't know were there but with a hill tip if you did leave the machine on you would know how much is there because H track's documenting that for you right down to the pounds right down to the pounds right down to how many pounds you could put 267 lbs on a lot and it will it will do it and if you lift and fell right there on a lot that I treated an hour after I did it I can I can search the area in which you fell and tell you exactly what happened in that area what's that worth to you well it's worth a lawsuit it's worth just eliminating a lawsuit if that documentation gets you paid faster from your client and keeps you out of a major lawsuit it it it's covered its cost the first year I was telling Craig and off camera we actually got offered a job because we had a hillt we B found out we had a hill tip and he's like wait you got a hill tip oh I got some extra salting for you not because we yeah it's because it was a hill [Music] this is really what starts to set this apart I mean you guys did all the features on the outside of the machine but here's where the magic starts to happen for the guys that control the numbers right correct yes so let's go go ahead and set what we just put into the into the machine so you're setting how much material you put in so you put in how much manually you put it in okay just as you based off of what he put in so operators live on this side administrators on this side so we'll get right into the spreading screen this is what the operator sees every time he goes out everything is done from this screen in a quick tutorial Around the Horn here this controls strobe lights that's your work light this is your fully programmable blast which means that you just press this and it will run for whatever you've programmed that blast to be this would turn on or off your preet if it wasn't part of a spreading setting already this turns on our automatic vibrate which means that when the machine is on it will automatic vibrate itself for however long and for how often you want it to right now you can see that we're going to be spreading the salt 17 ft it were're 42% of power so that would be comparable to four on anybody else's dial if you you if you knew what that was now if we press this button we go into automatic mode and so down here you can dial up whatever amount of material you want in automatic mode so when the machine starts we start you'll get 7 lb for 1000 ft in this case at 17 ft right here this is what we call asymmetry adjustment this this is an option but as we move this ball on the slide here with the with the control knob you see the spreading picture that little arrow there is the center line of your spinner so you can direct where that salt is going all right so you can control center Left Right correct from there absolutely this fully diagnostic controller tells you what's wrong with it yellow message is a is an error message says hey you got some stuff going on it's not going to keep you from working in this case says low liquid no connection to HRA at the moment um If This Were red it would be a full stop and it was going to tell you what's wrong with it down here is going to be your material this is your speed this would be your time we have to set that and then if you have your lots and things Geo fenced we can get into H track right up here and we can see worksite customer contract and then right up here this this line would show you what your next closest work site is to your physical location so from this point forward if you geofence your SES you know before you go how much material is supposed to be on those sites and it's going to direct you to the shortest distance between those sites okay now with h track though then it's everything is not just locked into here you can actually upload that to the cloud so that the guys in the office can then take that information and process it further and determine if the application rate works determine if you need more salt less salt more pre-wedding less pre-wedding that's correct so everything from right from that point so that a guy a a real company that really wants to optimize their margins can then go okay we can turn down the salt a little bit and add a little bit bit more liquid and boom you you've just saved yourself 5% and 5% is legitimately where your profits exactly so in this case here you look at under the info section you see tripl log so this machine in and of itself is going to tell you how much material how far how long but it's also recording all of those uh geoposition uh metrics and uploading those to the portal application rates and so on so to your point you can go back time over time over time off to every site and see exactly how much material it was put here exactly how much time it took then you can create your average off of that so if I called you out of the blue tomorrow and said hey I've got a 7,000 square yard site you can type that address in and know with a fair amount of certainty this is my minimum bid for me to make money to even show up on your property because you have that information you have the information this machine is correct yes exactly all right so well okay I and I'll be straight with you guys I think we only touched the surface of what this machine is capable of th% the there are so many benefits to this unit that you won't even realize you're benefiting from it so one of the things that we talked about off camera was imagine you go out 20 times in a season and you've taken the shortest route time over time and your equipment is out 60% longer because you know before you go how much you can treat with it 60% longer on the route on the route not going back to home base and filling back up correct you're staying out 60% longer than the competition imagine the fuel savings because you're taking the shortest routes the overtime you're saving the wear and tear the brakes the tires all of those are ancillary dividends that this thing pays forward because you're using it and you're using okay so this is actually one of your smaller units correct right I mean in fact this wasn't the unit that uh we were going to originally put on my truck but this is is what this truck can handle that's correct so um what other size units do you have what other equipment do you have and where do guys find out more information if they're interested Craig great yeah so the smallest combination unit we have is the 1.2 cubic yard which would be for short beds then we go from to 1.5 which is here we go to 2 yard 2.8 3.4 4.2 and then six cubic yards all combination units coming next season we're going to get into the eight and the 10 cubic yards as well on on the combination unit and these are made in Finland made in Finland currently but uh going forward uh hopefully over the next season 18 months or so we hope to start assembling and building those here in the United States and they are progressive to a fault not in a political sense correct meaning that the fins uh in in in our company quality is is first and foremost so if we see areas of improvement we're we're very proactive in embracing um newer new technology improving that on the daily basis improving the quality of the componentry in this equipment these are investments making changes a great example I mean I know this is a long video you guys but um making changes instantly for example years back there was a an issue with one of the filters would create a slit during the testing which yeah it was just some testing that we do with all of these machines and we were having some issues with some uh cracked H pump housings that was changed within the season within the season correct we're we're we're a very uh aggressive company in the space trying to maintain the Integrity of the product the quality of the product the durability of the product uh and the nice the thing of when you make an investment in a hill tip we can keep that machine as current and new for you as long as you want it meaning that all of our technology is retrofittable so it when a new controller do we want to talk about what's coming out next year well we we I'd really kind of like to save that for the the National Truck Equipment show because we've got a lot of cool stuff that's coming there is something very very cool coming maybe I'll be able to go to that National Truck and Equipment show and then be able to show you I I'm not going to break my I'm not going to I'm not going to tell you because if I got to respect that but uh it's unlike anything else that is coming in any any salt spreader oh yeah period but that's going to do it for this one I hope you guys enjoyed this ride God bless go get them you guys we'll catch you on another one website for hilltip www.h hilltip naor am.com thank you sir yes sir thanks Dan
