What happens here

This DIY project addresses various water leaks and general maintenance issues on an older RV (a 1996 Newell coach). The process involves identifying internal and external leak sources, removing old and degraded sealant, and applying new silicone as a temporary measure. The video also outlines comprehensive future plans for permanent repairs, such as replacing windows, re-insulating, redirecting AC runoff, and upgrading all exterior lights to LEDs.

the trials and tribulations if water lakes have begun I was trying to pull this bull down here to change it and I couldn't get it out there's no really really grab it so it's kind of throw all the wires and see what happened and you know of course they came out but a bunch of water started coming out of the holes and now that's not good this thing has been leaky this kind of messed up back here I'm gonna have to fix that this one I guess is okay that cab lights dead that cab lights dead there's a tiny leak up there yeah so I need to go get a bunch of stuff like a lot of silicone because that bathroom walls still leaking over there and both of these little skylight thingies up there or dripping a little bit too like around they're supposed to open with somebody's silicone of clothes probably because they were leaking well they didn't do a very good job because dripping is a little bit it rained really really hard last night and I'm starting to notice this stuff now is to be expected I mean stuff gets all it dries out I'll fix it but it's part of the process and this is what I'm here for so let's get it reason I'm wearing headphones is that wasn't a podcast a lot when I work and between whenever I just not gonna take them out because I'm gonna stop filming hits but keep listening to it right now I'm actually listening to mark horns podcast olden days having his I think it's pretty interesting I like to find parables for other people success stories to my own transfer some of the lessons they talked about into my own decision-making this is part of what I do anyway I am working on this leak up here now that whole panel it's pretty fubar so what I'm doing is in carving out all the old crud before I put new silicone in there I'd only intended for this to be a permanent solution I'm just doing this now to get me by because eventually I'm going to pull this window out and make a new piece of wood in there agree spray foam insulation in the book put it all back together with stuff that's better because it should be more solid than that zelda's this is like aluminum the and then the bones of the coach kind of run like studs in a house it's just aluminum struts and then there's foam and then the plywood all behind that so this here is what's letting the water run in down there and I think the this little seal up here may be sufficient for now but I'm probably gonna have to redo this too because it doesn't feel like these rivets are this feels looser than it should the sticky stuff is actually kind of the correct way to fix something like this from what I understand dangit I want to get some practice plate frame look I wanted to get some black spray-paint to repaint they see in it so it doesn't look as obvious up there later I'm gonna get to scraping clean all this out the best I can with I messed up the paint and we're packet full clear silicone then move on to the skylights up there so I've peeled out all the crap and I put some clear [Music] it still doesn't look very good but I can tell if someone's rivets up they're out so whenever I do all this I'll be in a closed area or in a dries very soon where I'm not gonna have to breathe but things get wet I'll draw those rivets out research them back down and do the window refill everything right think here these are have come out to this panel sluice I'm gonna go up there because you can see where the roof air the water just constantly the runoff and the AC comes right down there so this has been off all day everywhere on the basement areas instead I'm going to preventative ly seal up that rivet scene right there just just for peace of mind that I need to figure out some way to divert that water running down the side because what it's doing is it's separating these trim pieces like this the water gets in there and it lifts it up this is just like double-sided tape that holds it on and the other side is not like that because there is no runoff and after that like whatever the front pull out that front cab light that thing back in there preventatively again that's that's gonna come out to something replace all these with LEDs like this this is the same style so I could just get like a bunch of these [Music] one step at a time it's funny whenever I hear these semi-trucks one of them will fire up this isn't it right away they got a real distinct sound so I was just up on the roof an hour and a half with the silicone just going around like all kinds of random little stuff eventually I think once I can find a place to do this inside I'll take everything off the roof and reseal it so I know it's good instead of just putting solar I figured well that was up there at might as well run over everything just to be sure when it's blowing my hair's a mess I'm hungry I don't know if I'm gonna get to the cab light right now think I'm gonna get some food but that part up there is my main concern and I also preventatively sealed up that AC area I found out how it drains out of there and I'm pretty sure I can make my own drains that does not do that so that could be a future project give you a walk around this thing you haven't seen it before it's a 96 newell is 45 feet it was originally owned by Al Unser jr. and it solved the Robby Gordon Robert Gordon's like did this paint job or had it done and it's also probably the reason I'm having some of these leakage problems because to paint this they stripped it all down to bare metal and may not have resealed everything exactly perfect I don't know or maybe they didn't use the quality materials as highs but Newell did from the factory or maybe a Newell that's this hole is gonna leak anyway I don't know but it sure does look awesome and it's mine now it's my project so I gotta figure it out yet the mirror fell off going down the highway in Arkansas high 40 so I had to yeah I fixed it we're good but yeah you can see that one I know leaks because I pulled on it and the wires popped out and a water start coming out that was - appeared to be okay - still it up but those are all gonna get replaced with some LEDs along with that one's dead that one still works but I'm gonna do all LEDs everywhere and it is going to look awesome so just know today are doing videos more often now eventually I'd like to get that every day ultimately that's the decision that I'm gonna make her not making kind of up to chance whether I do it or not I'd like to do it every day I'm gonna work up the half doing that if you have any more questions for info that you want to know go check out my other videos on this thing and you can also drop a comment I will answer every single one find me on instagram at statement 42 probably one of the most active people you'll find on social media platforms that has any type of following I'm not saying that like a fracas wave it was like once people were to get a a K at the end of their Instagram followers they take their to Botox people and that's not how I answer every simple message again so that's that hit that subscribe button and we'll see you later
