The Miami Brothers Who Invaded 1980s NASCAR: Rahmoc's Race Shop Time Capsule

What happens here

The tour concludes with the owner showing off a Toyota race car, given to him by Jerry Hemmingson, and a Michael Waltrip car, which belonged to Donnie Richardson. He describes how Donnie is putting that car together for someone else. He then highlights a D.B. Builders ARCA car, noting its steel body, before moving to a collection of Modine radiators, which were essential components in early racing. The owner shares how back in the day, when you made the race, you would 'stand on your time' (stop trying to qualify faster) and wait. However, if you didn't qualify, you were out, emphasizing the pressure to perform.

Goal: Examine additional race cars and hear closing stories about qualifying pressure.

cracking we were having in the main webs. What What year would have that been from? This would have been uh '85. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. One One One thing you learn in racing is is you don't want to overstock. It It moves too fast and you'll end up with a lot of dead inventory. How about that highest in '75? Now, that That would That would have been '83 uh for sure. Yeah, that's cool. I like seeing stuff like that or unopened boxes or if those things came from '85 and you could have moved up here into this place with those in the box still. You know, there's there's SB2s from uh we were out of cup by the time we get SB2 era came along, but we did rebuild them for people that run them ARCA. And we also ran them in the truck series. Uh Did you have any of your former cup engines sitting around here? Uh that Ford short block. That's ac- actually came from Butch Mock Motorsports. That would have been kind of '90 '90 whenever Rick Mast was driving for him. Uh that would have been that. As far as a a 23° uh type engine, uh no. That would have been a, you know, SB2. We ended up buying that from James Finch. Uh that's something that Jimmy Spencer probably had in his car when he was driving for Finch and Mark Reno was working on the car. We ended up getting three engines from Finch. Since we are engine people, we'll take this mess. Uh when we retire, which will never be, uh I need to open this side door. That That's a 215 all aluminum Buick engine that was like '61 to '63. And we're going to get that. Oh, that's cool. >> Here Here's a 409 Chevrolet. Then not a performance, but an industrial 409. When we first drove racing, we were big into inline sixes. So, that's a GMC inline six, probably a 261. This was a General Motors first overhead valve engine. The camshaft runs inside the rocker cover. Flathead Chrysler, we've got a flathead Pontiac, flathead Ford 239. Lot Lots to do in our spare time. Was this the building where the pull down pit was supposed to be? >> that's in here actually. Was this addition thing on here when the race team was operational? >> Well, what what happened here was they were both building the cars and
