What happens here

This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to reseal a kitchen sink basin with a silicone-enhanced caulking compound to prevent food particles and grime from accumulating in the gap between the sink and the countertop. The process involves removing old adhesive, cleaning the area thoroughly with specialized remover and soap, applying new caulk, and smoothing it for a clean, waterproof seal.

okay let's get some of that wiped off there get the whole way around here hey folks that fix the guy here and a little while back i found out something that's been driving me absolutely nutty all right so when they put our countertop and they put our sink in well they actually didn't caulk in between here so now i got a bunch of nasty food particles and stuff that are going up in there and we need to get this caulked in place so come along let's get to fixing [Music] [Applause] so why would you want to caulk this the reason why you want to caulk up in here so this right here is exactly white because your food splatters when you rinse your stitches stuff just splatters up in here well if there's silicone in there it's not going to actually get down in the cracks and it's not going to stay there now we got to really like try to scrub and get all that stuff out where if it was just caulked in place well you know it's just gonna be on the surface i could wipe all that down with no worry of pushing it in there and it would be much better so first thing we're gonna have to do is we're gonna have to pop this off and you can see i've already tried to take this off a little bit because man [Music] i wouldn't have but this is actually right on the lip and it needs to go this little thing has been one of the coolest things ever for us i really like the fact that it just sits down in there it's a nice holder this actually is my favorite sponge of all times never smells pretty awesome all right i think we picked this up on amazon we're gonna have to buy a new one because i'm fixing to trash this one we just take our painters tool and just kind of start working it off there it's pretty sticky stuff like once it's on there and there's tool it is okay got that bad boy out of there so this stuff is actually quite tacky on the back side all right so maybe some crud cutter let's see what this stuff does got a little something in our cabinet here and says it's biodegradable so that's nice too septic safe get a little bit of that on there [Music] look at that yeah dude that is great and this whole thing's fixing to get cleaned anyway that stuff worked very very well all right let's get some hot water going got a little dish here i got this little scrubby here i don't know i think it's for our pans or something but i feel like it's gonna work really well on the stainless steel and then i'm just gonna kind of wring it out this is funky dude there's some nasty in there not going too far up here because it's not sealed i know that just grab a paper towel go the whole way around this you can see that starting to see some metal-ish coming off there right because it's stainless steel scrubbing it down with another metal thing you're gonna get a little bit of that residue but for the most part it's coming out and it's looking really clean right that's good okay so we're back this is all dry it's all clean and now we're ready to put our sealant in here for this particular instance right this style of thing i like to go with the siliconized acrylic this is easy water cleanup unlike silicone right if you've ever messed with silicone you get your hands all jacked up a lot of times you'd want to tape everything off to make sure that you don't get it everywhere else because if not it just doesn't look good well this stuff being water cleanup it's gonna look good you can actually shape it mold it it's gonna look really nice when it's all said and done all right get our sponge wet we'll just wet our finger and we'll just go right along the edge of this we can just take this sponge we can go right along the edge of this get all that off of there get all that unwanted chalk off of there smooth the rust out with your finger okay and so with this you might actually have to get your head up underneath there and you know make sure everything is looking good you may have missed the spot all right so now that all that's smoothed out underneath there just gently without actually getting up on the caulk line i just like to wipe gently around there and get those white water marks off you can see in certain areas some of it's totally streaking down a little bit or you know the caulk hasn't been my cult line wasn't the greatest but it's good okay and then we can just take the camera and get up in there and look around and you can see that whole gap is now filled in okay so now we're good to rock and roll right this is good once it dries it's going to dry clear so then what i like to do is i like to usually just put some kind of tape over the end of this just to keep it sealed up i really hope you guys found the video helpful now if you needed to redo this well this is a good thing to redo it you would just have to take that painters tool this one right here or something similar and get down in there and scrape all that old silicone or cult out make sure you scrub it get it nice and clean give it some dry time and then go back in there and caulk it up make it look pretty again and then you're gonna be good to rock and roll i really hope the video helps if you guys can please subscribe to the channel click the like button we'd love to have you keep coming back thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
