have a fun topic that something you worked on today yeah today was an interesting day so we stripped a door over a hundred years old yeah and the thing is is our goal is to educate empower and equip and we asked you guys what we should use for stripping the door and we use some of those suggestions yeah so kind of cool so yeah family man thanks for being with us we haven't seen you for a while you have a baby no that's wife is pregnant cool yeah so we are gonna um we're gonna talk about our experience stripping a hundred in that dog that's really I know it's really low it's real like our YouTube this is real this is not scripted barking dogs and all but yeah we had a very interesting task you look before us and with limited time we had to strip a hundred-year-old door 103 years old I think it was on the houses built in 1915 and so we had to you know strip this thing and it was kind of interesting the whole process so yeah it was and I'm going to talk a little bit about it and talk about our experience we tried stripping it with chemical strippers and we've tried sprut stripping it with a media blaster a grey coat Eco clip and that's the thing is we want to hear what have you used what's worked for you do you have any um stripping nightmares you know like where that sound right that would be chemicals chemical stripping nightmares do you have any chemical stripping nightmares or do you have you know times it worked out really good or I'm curious do you have any 50 nightmares no I'm just so you're going down the wrong path you're the one that is that smell like this is real life this is this is thank you very much Andrew thank you very much Morales drywall right okay Liam yeah Julio thank you for it in your name in there thank you yes I think you're from Texas um what did that what happens in Texas everything's bigger in Texas it is it is great everything's bigger in Texas ah I've been you didn't use plastic wrap you didn't use plastic wrap so I I did it I heard that um so somebody said that while we were doing what we were doing stripping the door um we we now see you can tell this is live before doing this door um I gotta admit we don't have a whole lot of experience stripping things and we don't have a whole lot of mix range stripping either but um this is like hitting connect you should have said chemical strippers because people are like I saw a tweet earlier tonight all about the strippers like so we put it out on Facebook you know to get people's ideas and stuff like that and we're gonna tackle this door and and so yeah it's kind of interesting you know the whole process and stuff and we tried a whole bunch of different chemicals and we tried the Graco eco crib so it was really cool because we have in the Graco eco quip is it's it's a sandblaster but it mixes water with your media so it's um it's a it's a media blaster that works better than a sandblaster and make sure you're not your phone is not on somebody's because that thing is trying to reconnect so it's kind of a bummer but anyways um it it just it I mean the whole thing it's kind of interesting um the whole process and stuff and this door we had this had to be done because there was some circumstances it had to be done today and it needed to be really be done in very short window and so that's why we tried stripping it with the Graco eco quip and and I know it probably doesn't people a lot of people would be like what the heck are you doing with the sandblaster or a media blaster on this door but for purposes this time table this time window we had to have it done we thought we might be able to strip it really fast and you can just you can strip it really fast and and so we did we set up the the Graco eco quip and started using it it's kind of cool and we used glass beads and so we used number number number six glass beads was it number eight number eight glass beads I ordered and so yeah it's kind of it was kind of cool we and we went through that process and what was happening is it was it was cutting through the paint and stuff like the shmita is ended I know you're like making a disaster faces oh no no I designed this in my face it's not like feet had ended but we forgot something so we were so excited to start and talk about this store stripping that we forgot McKenna is back from college you want to say hi McKenna oh hey McKenna's back in college our social media manager is back she she is back from college you can say how am I gonna there's yes yes oh so happy to have her back with us we are happy to have her back so anyways we forgot to say that in silver line painting thanks to the constant inspiration so thank you we we're here because of you and we really appreciate that so if you do have suggestions that you want us to talk about this is what we're here for and we like to talk about what we're working on and to hear you know maybe we can do it better next time and so that's why this door was a great opportunity because not having a lot of experience yet you're the professional that came in for it learning from it so if you're with us so thank you silver line painting and we'll let you get back to that because the Eco question so you know because we were going to try to strip this door we were hoping it could be done for it's interesting these interesting circumstances try to do it in 20 minutes and so you know we got the idea of the only way you're gonna be able to strip this thing is with a media blaster so we broke that media blaster out and it was working it was stripping doing really well and stuff but what was happened it was stripping some areas faster than other areas and it was cutting into the wood and it was starting to create a profile on the wood I was using a number 8 glass and if you're not familiar with blasting and stuff I mean it's soot it's just major major fine and it's glass beads it's not crushed glass so it was doing a really good job and it was keeping the wood smooth but it was starting to create a profile and this door had a lot of really detailed intricate things on it and if you want to see exactly what the door looked like we posted it live on Facebook and Instagram a little while ago because we were just there and I John might still be there hopefully he's not we were working on it all day but and so the media blaster um it was the other thing too we thought it was gonna be a solid oak door and then when we started getting into it we discovered it was a cheap pine door and so that kind of changed everything so a lot of times you just don't you don't know what you're gonna get into with stripping um chemical stripping and so clarifying and so I mean you don't know what's underneath all the layers this door was over 100 years old multiple layers some of them relate xbase some of them oil base then on the front of it it also had okay and so and so you don't you know you just don't know what you're getting into it was originally coated with linseed oil and then all these other things on top of it so it's kind of interesting so we ended up resorting to chemical strippers okay and you get the process and this is where I'm gonna share with you our experience and I learned a whole lot about um stripping old doors and they had all kinds of like let like fine details and stuff and so we haven't use like toothbrushes wire brushes little tiny screwdriver is getting in and out and it was it was really cool it took the entire day I mean I I got up this morning at 6:00 and got out there by like 8:00 8:30 and I believe John might still be there so no he's headed back so the family man thank you we thank you very much family man we we've got some super chats Silverline painting thank you very much and Morales drywall painting I'm standing still of a second the family man so thank you guys so now I want to get into talking about you know the chemical stripping in what works because we did post on Facebook asking people you know their opinions on strippers and stuff and what would be the mat Beth mat the best of method it is kind of interesting one person while we are alive out there told us put tinfoil over the citrus strip and leave it overnight and I mean it's probably a really good idea it probably makes it work better but we didn't have that time I'm not sure it is a professional painter we've I mean I mean you have to spend that time on a door and put it on there and come back the next day I mean we're trying to get things done you know fast but high quality we're always thinking about quality thinking about the customer this door had to be honey perfect this is we could not compromise the integrity of this old door and so so then then of course are the chemical stripper is gonna mess up the door I'll mess up the wood and stuff you know we didn't know about that then we started experimenting with them too so but you know citrus strip we use citrus strip um I think is no clean clean strip or something I've IDEO - all of them in the live show a video will come out with it but I got pictures James White says next time sand door with 80 grit paper then apply stripper with plastic hey and I understand why he's said to do that that makes a whole lot of sense but um so we used we use Jasco Jasco premium paint an epoxy remover was the best it's the best stripper that we use today it was the fastest it worked the fastest and the best but it's you know the the faster of stripper works the more dangerous it is it had a warning sign on it that it can kill you so that means that it do it's probably dangerous be careful we used on super strip and we use super strip heavy duty and then the original and they have heavy duty by far blows away the original way better works faster and which means it could probably kill you faster so you got to be careful then we use center step there was another one we used and we couldn't use it because it requires a paper in this special paper in his interest see if the paint sword they sold the stripper but then they didn't sell the paper to go with the stripper so they're not gonna sell very much so and a lot of people won't even know and then you start reading the directions and it says it's not just paper it's like this special paper and who wants is it there and let lay out paper and stuff that seems a little obnoxious to me and so what we did the other route with these strippers and the iko iko quip and stuff Jesse Roman said heat guns heat gun and heat guns yes and we do heat guns and I've talked to somebody who did a whole lot of stripping on doors and and he heat guns he said works really good and he also said flame burning it off and their mess it was burning off he says absolutely amazing and they do a lot of historical restoration but if you don't know what you're doing you can destroy things burning up but he said the fastest method by by far with anything is burning it off and that's with a flame and so so yeah so yeah the he guns same thing he guns didn't you don't have to deal with chemicals and stuff like that and we had heat guns and we would have tried that but we already applied the strippers and stuff like that and so you can't take a heat gun after you started using strippers so I think at least I must want me to open this box there's a lot of things going on in here at one time so one who is this from so I think this is very fair and ball so when we went to the UK so we loved coming there and we're so thankful for the people we met when we are at the show we got to go talk to Pharaoh and ball which is a paint company and have some beautiful paints I found out we could order them from Chicago so we're gonna look into their products and look hey brush got a paintbrush very cool their own ball makes paintbrushes apparently now that is everything they make the best stir stick on the entire planet yeah oh yeah I would say so that that is so thick Emily pretty is a stir stick that is incredible param oh I have to say you do have the best stare snake on the entire planet hands down yeah so they sent us these really cool little paints so on we can mess with them and that's why why they sent the tiny little paintbrush so I'll go in there that will be for a very small project yeah a bunch of different little colors oh wow one thing I learned about Pharaon ball is that's an entire color palette they don't mix any paints they don't custom mix paints that's it that's right there they think the ghosts on colors are the best colors and they're absolutely amazing colors and they go well with each other very complementary and that is their lines and colors so it's kind of interesting use their products and let us know if they have yes obviously they sell them in Chicago and in other countries Despero Inbal make good paints I really like this I left there well now that's interesting because they said that's all their paints but then there's this whole fan bag unless unless that whole fan deck is on there that little fold-out that's in come now see that could be true that could that could be that's a killer family oh I do like that fan that go right that's pretty cool that's a nice fan deck that's a nice little package so and they send us a card yeah let's go back to stripping yeah yeah and so the chemical stripper is the one the epoxy the Jasco paint an epoxy remover you know worked pretty fast and one of the things this is I mean people have these really cool ideas and stuff the tin foil putting saran wrap or plastic over the top of it so it can work we came up with this really cool idea and we we sell this because we saw this thing in Hawaii that carbide stripper oh yeah in that carbide scraper hands down is one of our top five favorite tools now and we sell it in our toes are on the Idaho painter calm so you know we do have a tool sorry our website where we sell our shirts and hats now they are available they are too available our stores up and running you can even buy our stickers so our stickers available on the tool store now too so I'm also there and some select tools that we highly believe in but that carbide tool I would I just grabbed it I said what that gonna give it right and I just started raking across the paint and it just rake soft levels of paint just like that so you don't have to wait for the the strippers to work and then we put the stripper on and use the carbide scraper cuz it's so dang sharp and it was just taking off paint fast on all the flat stuff absolutely amazing that's a killer trick if you do any um any you'll stripping right then you um if I want to have one of those carbide carbide scraper is absolutely that they're amazing for all kinds of things but we do sell them in our tool store now and last week you announced that our store is up and running it is people could find it by going to our website yeah the Idaho pain or calm and so we are still waiting to get our shirts in I just gave John some hats and he's gonna be Mele know so Ellen cook hopefully he's mailing them to you tonight so we I mean are really excited about that so please be a little bit patient with us we're just gonna work out the kinks to getting it started but once it get started the printing machine is running tomorrow I got called by the printer so all the sizes that we don't have they're all being run now and a whole bunch of them yeah so they're all come in they're gonna be held yeah and christmas is coming and so i hope you guys are all merry christmas merry we got a couple pigs we were in Home Depot last night anything bought some pigs they're the ones that are light we need to take a picture and show them never link you will put them on stickers and shirts and hats but if you just hit SHOP NOW as the page shows on your computer it takes you to the shirt store so just scroll down and then you'll see there's what happens if the top menu it needs to say stickers hats it needs to have a tab for each one of those items and send out the scroll down so John there you go but a task for you yeah John Burke thanks for being with us and yes sometimes men will be boys will be boys you're having fun with same stripper I don't know I I'll show you the picture it says it right on the campaign so I'm a family man can asked a couple questions okay I'm gonna go to number two what's the cheapest paint you ever used so cheap and quality or cheap and money well do both them both so the thing the cheapest and money I ever made was ever paid for was by qua qua how and nobody made cheaper paint than those guys and they and they made it for a reason for the new construction industry and market and um for blown go painters man that were working for dang cheap and they you know set it and understood it that was their market and their exterior paint was like twelve dollars a gallon and interior paint was like eight dollars a gallon and sure Williams bottomed out and sure Williams owns them like they look like they bite like just about everybody out and so do you think they still you make that cheap no no no they eliminated all that so that's the cheapest quality paint that I ever used would be qual house it would be pretty close between call qual house exterior why did Sherman spied that they wanted they wanted their chemical coatings one of their chemical coatings that they had my husband rumor has it that we wanted that division in Canada and that's all they wanted from it so yeah they didn't want all the rest of stuff they eliminated it kept that division up there wanted to find out how they created it and and so but I you know their exterior paint you just spray it and it just come raining down the next one I'd have to say that they were probably pretty close was them in that rada paint that we just used was oh my word that stuff was they sold it to us as their best paint but we found out later on it wasn't and it was really bad stuff it was bad John we're praying for you especially during gush I just read he lost his wife three weeks here right for you and your family especially during this time of year yeah hard time that's right puts things in perspective it does I mean we're talking about paint and obviously family especially coming up with Christmastime right now that's what it's about so hopefully you guys are wrapping up your jobs and so that you can spend time with them because that's why you guys all work so hard so you can provide and take care of your family so oh my goodness yeah so we'll get back to the chemical strippers and some of the things that I was talking about that carbide blade and you know how well that worked it worked it was absolutely amazing the thing that helped in the process but it's what I've learned really fast is you just got it it's gonna be messy and it's messy just like wallpaper removal so there's no easy way around it and it just takes time you're gonna just put the camels goes on and it's just not gonna come off in one swipe it's putting them on scrubbing with wire brushes toothbrushes scrapers we were using our five and one you know in some situations I'm digging around crevices and stuff we had a little tiny screwdriver and it's just applying the stripper clean in and then and then we there was a window and…
