why don't you point the camera up a little bit were live howdy hi I was just reading I was song well no I was reading Cheryl's question she said she saw five top five painting hacks from May 17th Chris is wearing a shirt with the Bond girls printed on the front her favorite sticker will those ever be in your shop they will yep they will built they'll get out there hi John thanks for being with us hi Trevor thanks for being with us there was one person that was the first time that logo she's talking about yeah ray Martinez was the first person on so what are you gonna give him we were gonna give him a Idaho painter sticker and a Bond girls hate life sticker cool yeah so ray Martinez there's room with us and he's the first winner of the night first winner the night stickers how much money did you spend shipping off stuff last week quite a bit quite a bit hi Mac Miller so how was the highlight of your week um the highlight a painting um testing out a new product from Graco that I thought was really cool so so where did you test it out and what was it I tested out in the garage it was there the pressure roller and I was very surprised because I bought one probably about five to seven years ago and I had it in storage for like a couple years and I never used it and I returned and got my money back because I just didn't think it would be Wow were they tried it I've never even tried it and now then what we got this we got the jet roller and the pressure roller just recently and I've had him for about three months cuz I didn't really think that they would work and so they sat around and I tried the pressure I tried them both but I tried the pressure roller and it was amazing how I use it for a day though so but that day I use it on Saturday I worked on Saturday if you want to see us using it I was I did a on the live Instagram feed it's right gone now but it was I totally loved it the prep the jet roller not so much I didn't like breathing the overspray that it was causing so I used it shortly and I'm just I was trying to figure out when would I ever use this thing and because it wasn't gonna work for the application we were doing then but the pressure roller I started using it and I was like I think I could use this on almost every single paint job so what's it called or what's the make or model of the great go pressure roller in it so you know has the gun the gun hammer right here releases the paint the paint goes up you know through the extension comes out your roller so you never have to dip your roller so you whenever you need paint on your roller you squeeze the trigger it's hooked up to an airless sprayer I had it hooked up to you you know a small hairless spirit that's getting really young he is answering questions so yeah it was absolutely amazing and it runs it really low pressure I was like I was testing it out and I started really high got down to it I ran great and only 500 psi so I think just any airless sprayer even the really low-end do-it-yourselfers could run this thing it was amazing I loved it so I mean that's what you know our channel is about to educate equip and empower painters and introduce them to new products and what will make their jobs more efficient better finished and so you painted interior today and you didn't use it is there a reason why because John had already started it and this had like three stories high ceilings it was a three stories but like two and a half stories high and that thing can only reach about 10 feet is the maximum extent of it and I wasn't there when they started the job and John only heard about my experience because he wasn't there with us Saturday yeah he hadn't heard what I had to say about it and so so I talked to about when I got there and he and we talked about hey could we have used it here but they already started so we didn't we didn't do it but I probably would have broke it out if I was there when we started the job so um we're talking about you testing out the Graco what's it called again the great go pressure roller great go pressure roller and that kind of leads - we're gonna be great goes guest Oh funny gallery stasis Galveston Texas we're going to be there February 21st through 23rd at the painted decorating show so come down and see us somebody's saying Victor Torres said remember to bring the new machine I'm going to win we are giving away two machines on our Facebook page no on our website right and then we're gonna be giving away some stuff at the show also we're giving away a great goal Ultramax hand-held airless sprayer at the show we're giving away one our website right now at the Idaho painter calm and but and that's like a 600 or sprayer but what's amazing is we're giving away the Graco the great go finished pro 9.5 professional model HVLP sprayer which is like an $18 rider which is kind of weird because we have like three times more people entering to win the handheld then we do the other one which the handhelds like $600 in the ATL P is like $1,800 so it's kind of interesting so we got two super tatters Andrew slow a sec the more that there is this the less you see what is it to see yes like totally getting confused this chat is dedicated to Joan's beard so that's what happens a today dawn does have a pretty good beard I'm John Burke thanks for being with us my prayers are with you life is a gift and that would be hard bear with us if it's air ok thank you so much we appreciate that greatly hopefully Haley got her shirt we do arm if you didn't know like you're on YouTube it's kind of way because a lot we're also really big on Facebook and Instagram and a lot of people don't know that there's people that don't even know on Instagram now we have a youtube channel yeah it's kind of interesting but we did a live show how's the field we do live shows Facebook at noon on Thursday and we're doing a live show while we were doing our cabinets and we were showing you the exact process of that we go about doing cabinets how we hang our doors instead of trying to explain it you know without having it right there in front us we were there inside somebody's house doing the cabinets and we showed walk through the whole process so it's kind of cool it was a really big show on Facebook a lot of people watched it so if you want to see it in detail go check us out on Facebook we're gonna be at another cabinet job this Thursday yeah it seems really popular I watched the HGTV show the other day and I could see why they're popular for us and I'm sure painting cabinets is popular for you because that's just the trend everybody wants white cabinets everybody wants white cabinets is kind of interesting so and we're getting lots and lots of questions in regards to those on those videos so that's what we were just on Facebook live just a little bit ago trying to answer some of the questions and we're gonna try to answer some tonight because a lot of people want to know this process what we use why we use it and stuff so we're gonna try to answer some more questions on that tonight but check us out on Instagram is Idaho painter Facebook is the I know painter and anybody that's here if you don't subscribe to our YouTube channel please consider subscribing and hitting the little notification bell you'll always be notified when we go live just by clicking on that little bell that's all you got to do it's simple but it's interesting cuz only 10% of our viewer views on YouTube come from subscribers so it's kind of weird that's a weird static yeah so your hat if anybody likes his hat they're on sale this week this week only hats off is the coupon code and you get 20% off and people are asking how do we how do you find your hats how do you find them yeah go to go to our website vie Idaho painter calm and go to the store and then it drops down they'll drop down and go to paint life store hey and the paint life store is not Amazon store the paint eyesore is what is the stuff we sell personally and ship out so and what are we selling on something that you we were gonna do you guys give away some shield brush holders so we like them because the paper ones tear rip on get destroyed pretty fast and shield products came out with this brush holder it's got perforated holes so it airs out and dries out but it keeps the brushes in excellent shape it's very simple easy to use and there are some knockoffs of these but we like there's the best and so we're selling it on our store and we're gonna give away some tonight shield the brush holder and they have three different sizes so any questions you see Papa Wan Nami 1987 watching from Texas so make sure we're gonna be in Galveston February 21st and 23rd so come down to the pain and decorating show we'll be there yes let's see shout outs from Kennedy house painting from Savannah Georgia Kenneth Thornton cool well and Daniel Ward said he wars paint my shirt today keeping it clean cool so send us a picture we love to see you guys in painting life gear because it is it's not just about him being a paint life person it's the community that we're a part of justin try lean have you looked into great gopro 210 es it's a small pump i think it's fairly new I'm thinking about buying one to spray trim and doors with can't really find much inside on it I haven't used it so since you brought it up all looking to see if I can get one and test it out but so I can't really say anything about it now I just could say overall all the great go products we have are we really like them they make really good products so so and make sure you know we're talking about cabinets because that's what we're working on right now but if you do have any opinions or thoughts or questions about painting cabinets this is your chance to ask and we'll do our best to try and answer some colino Olivares you guys should do a video on tips and needles for the East belfry sprayers maybe something in depth so that is a great idea we are going to be at on site spraying cabinets on Thursday when with your live show so um John will make a note of that and I think that will be something good to talk about because we have a whole kit that has all these different needle sizes and stuff yeah yeah you could like when do you use which yeah I think we'll talk about that I think I'll bring that whole kit with us and we only use two um but we'll talk about it and we'll talk about why we use those the ones were using because that that is a question we keep getting people asking and what needle size do you use so hey Chris I have a shirt I want to send not all painters wear white here from Rogers Arkansas that would be very cool so I'm sending us or email us type it in John the email address the email right here your real Hernandez so we'll send you our address well send your address because we do do shirt swaps anybody here if you guys have a painter shirt your own company send us a shirt and it'll go up on the wall and we'll send you one of ours Alex Banda Lee he says do you ever use a multi-purpose trick ladders like little giant you know um I have a some of the ones I have are just too um I don't know I can't say complicated cuz they're not like complicated but they don't fit in arts in our system stacking ladders in our vehicles and stuff like that I do use the extend climb which i think is absolutely amazing it extends up and extends down into only like three feet high or something like that I really love that one but yeah I know I know they make those things are made very well and they can come in handy but we don't ever use them so um we're here how are you feeling tonight Chris oh I'm a little sore why are you sore from playing soccer when I shouldn't be I know me too he dragged me out to play indoor soccer yeah I was walking funny today a couple broken ribs and a broken finger and I still played yeah and it hurt really bad yeah but our daughter was really happy she put the team together and she like loves us playing soccer with her I don't know why so we're suffering in pain for her yet not so clearly for the people we love so I'm gonna talk about you know the painting the cabinet painting process but I want to talk about there were some questions you had talked about what we use to paint cabinets with and why so we use lacquers and they're catalyzed lacquers and you know why do I use lacquers now and I spent you know twelve thirteen years painting them with latex paints and I think that the process are painting them with latex paints you know it takes it's a multiple day process and you're I would lay him down spray the the backs of them one day then I would flip them and spray the Front's of them the next day and they would set and dry and then the third day we would come hang on the lac rain if you watched our Facebook live feed we did the full set of cabinets um four coats in one day and then we reassemble them the next day and we were out of there about one about noon that one o'clock the second day so it speeds up the process by about by half doing lacquers versus versus latex paints but then I also wanted something that's gonna be a lot more durable than latex paints because they're not nearly as washable and Scrabble with even the best latex paints and more and resistant to chemicals and then the finish we would get her a good finish but I thought we could probably achieve something better with lacquers and so we tried and I think that the finish with lacquers is better feels thicker feels just smooth gets a really good high built finish on the automobile quality finish but then they're resistant just about everything you'll find underneath your sink and so there that's the paint's gonna last a lot longer I would say twice the life of the cabinet's so you've learned as you've gone like you've tried all different things like even the HVLP sprayer you just started using that yeah I mean well I didn't just like using it for a few years now but it's so no I mean just using it sounds like we just started this no I'm sure no no that's not we've been using them for several years yeah but I'm saying sprayer you changed from using the airless to HVLP but the airless still works correct um well yeah I mean it worked for me for 13 years so people have yeah you can you don't have to switch to an HVLP but if you just wanna I mean make your product just a little bit better have better finished and use higher end products than have been speed up the process yeah spop system is a really good system so yeah I'm not sure if anybody on here has any questions yeah when it comes to the let's see any thoughts on water WB water pigmented Poly's or products like I ve I haven't used IL VA but I know like um well the the pigmented Poly's you know I just don't have enough experience with them to to really give an opinion on it though bill Sapp Philips app says I have a cabinet painting and glazing job coming up my plan of attack is inspired by your process of cleaning using aqua coats lacquer primer and the locker pre cap part one cool that's pretty awesome so know you like aqua coats also um well the process of cleaning use the off aqua coat oh well isn't that for filling in the cracks yeah I think that he's talking about his the filling then the grain filler yeah called grain filler yeah I think it's amazing I think it's the best green filler it's the best green filler that I've ever used so that's awesome and I think we're it's so good we're adding it to our store I was gonna be in our store yeah because of things that you know you're selling on tools on Amazon of tools you use and you believe in and then everything that we're putting on our store are things that you use and believe in yes so we believe in our hat and that's why it's twenty percent off this week so um what is the best way to to thin the lacquer for use in a gray coat HVLP 9.5 sprayer so I mean the best way you just start it off some of the some lacquers I got laughter primer surfacer then enough we don't have to thin it out at all and so we just spray it straight but when we started spraying the topcoat when we very first got it you know it wouldn't go through straight so you know we added some lacquer thinner and we kept track of how much we were adding and so we would eventually know once it started spraying properly we didn't know exactly how much we added and we added 25% lacquer thinner to our locker so we knew now every time we wanted to spray all we got to do is add 25% to our gallon or if what we always everything we do a kitchen cabinet job we do 3x3 gallons and we always have leftover but we always bite you know too much just to make sure and we just know we get those gallons week then by 25% but we're ready to go there's no if that's the one thing about using an HVLP is you've got a determined how much you're gonna have to thin some but once you do it once it's gonna be the same every single time which is nice so somebody said with HVLP louie said do you prefer gravity or bottom feed guns for cabinets when we're when we're paying cabinets we like the remote pots so the remote pod um I just hang it like on my pocket or my belt I think John does the same thing so in the remote pot holds more product than then the cup itself does and now you just have your gun and your gun is attached to two hoses that go to remote pot and you can get in in and out of the the cabinet's a lot easier and the remote pot you'll have to fill it nearly as much so I think it's a 2 2 quart remote pots so or two and a half quarts I believe that's right right now where we have to answer questions I know let's see then the feed is like going crazy do you screen lockers while homeowners are home or do you ask them to bake a cake for the day so that's a good question that was the one I was looking for yeah so um that's a good question because lacquers lacquers um you'll obviously have a strong owner there's no way they're gonna be inside the booth but what on Thursday it's interesting you got to go check out our video on facebook while we were there live because we were almost set up with the booze we weren't quite finished but you can see how we created our spray booth inside of somebody's home and then usually it there's a booth within a booth that's ventilated to the outside but because the customer wanted to be able to walk through the house we have it created we had to create like a hallway for them to walk through so it's kind of on Zach wasn't so they were there literally literally the customer we were spraying in the kitchen and there was a plastic film going over the the entryway to his office and he was sitting right on his desk right behind the plastic working from home he did complain about everything or anything well there's not gonna be any dust because it's completely tented off last night but it does any the the smells seep through there you know when I walked into more dogs so um yeah when I walked in the house I can smell like a very slight smell of Locker but it wasn't like overwhelming it's it's probably no different than rolling walls it's just a different smell it wasn't gonna harm the customer but I kind of tell customers it's personal preference I mean some people do not want to smell anything and so they should be out of the house but other people like this customer I always tell the people that they don't have to leave the house if they feel like if the smell bothers them they're free to leave but at least if they have to work from home or being home there they can't come in the kitchen they can't come in our booths because I mean you can't even be in the booth without you know charcoal respirator so how are you Odie choking to death so so Nelson oh brother painting oh stop Nelson mother's painting do you think that lacquer just sits on the surface and does not penetrate like paint see seems like lacquer chips easier and has no flexibility like latex paint so yeah good question so latex paint is flexible and lacquers not black or…
