We'll try to keep the questions, you know, more more narrow to our topic for the night. And we decided this show is going to be about exterior painting since it's exterior painting season. We got Mun in Michigan Peninsula. Okay. any I want to see. Um Utah Elk County um paints LLC. But they're doing what we said. We said, "What paint do you use?" He said, "Sher Williams paint." Somebody said duration. So we're going to talk about that in a minute. But what are we going to do tonight? We have a couple giveaways. What are they? Oh, we're going to be doing a couple giveaways tonight. We're going to once again, we're going to be doing two giveaways. One in the middle of the show and one at the end of the show. And we're going to be giving away been using uh this grain filler from Aqua Co. And they not an exterior product though. Um, yeah, this is a this grain filler is excellent. We use it on cabinets uh oak cabinets uh getting rid of uh the graininess in oak cabinets. You can use it on small projects and stuff and and we started using it here this year on our cabinets and the stuff is awesome. And I contacted them, asked them if they would give some for the giveaways. What else are we giving away? Um Oh, uh you don't want me to say anything about more about aqua coat? No, we don't. We're good. Wow. She's So, I'm going to be giving away a paint life hat and an aqua coat to uh two people. One in the middle of the show and one at the end of the show. And we have um the person in charge of picking winners is back there. Whoever wins one of these, you need to send us a picture of you in it so we can post on Facebook and Instagram. Yeah. See how good she does? I never even think of this stuff. She's Yeah, that's what we need. She's a good coach. We want to see people. I do have uh behind me. That would be We're really excited because she's back from college and that's my social media. Not with food in your mouth. She has food in her mouth. That would be my daughter, my middle daughter, Mc Be McKenna. She is my social media manager and um and she does a lot of our editing and writing and stuff. So, editorial stuff for the Idaho Painter. Um she likes to be on camera. Yeah. As you can see. Okay. All right. So, what's um what are we going to start talking by tonight? Is the feed not moving? Why is there nobody talking? Um Okay. Yeah. So, um we're going to talk be talking about um exterior. This is exterior season and the paints I use is one of the things. And we're going to be talking about sheen and talk about primers and um so, you know, if you guys got any input on the want to know what they use and why they use them. What paint do you use when you're painting exteriors and why do you use them? We want to hear what you use and we'll tell you what we use. Yeah. So, let us know. Oh, I saw somebody on there um let us know they use Sherwin Williams paint. Let's see. We got Poor um we had that's Cody Townsen's in the house. Joe Felen. I've seen a lot of these at East Bay Paint California. I'm starting a cabinet job tomorrow. Somebody said they use duration duration paint. So I use um for our exterior repaints were that our bills I don't know are like 30,000 a month or so. And we use um today you went through about something like that. We we went through about 52 gallons of um exterior paint today. Resilience is what I use mostly on our exteriors. And we're in a pretty dry climate up here. And uh there's one of the reasons why I like Resilience is we do get a lot of afternoon thunder showers and stuff like that. They're just really weird up here and stuff like that. And Resilience uh within an hour it's um water resistant. So if it rains on it, it won't melt and it's really great. It dries really fast. Um, Nathan said he uses super paint and duration, but I want to know why you use it. What product is it cost? Is it fading? What is the reason that you use that product? Alex Jackman, I only use Sher Williams products. Duration locks on woodscapes, rhymar, armor seal. So, you just shared why you shared you like that if it gets wet that it water resistant. Um, here's one of the one of the other things. Um, I really like that the uh and resilience was designed for um the wet climates over in Portland where it rains a lot. So if you you paint a house within an hour or two, it's um not going to milk if it gets rain on it. And and this is crazy cuz um this year and last year several times we painted the house while it rained all day long and the paint still dried. And kind of unusual situation that the customer was from a different state and was adamant we paint. I told them it was raining and they were adamant to get done. It rained all day and we painted and it still dried and um it was crazy. It It's amazing. But another reason why I like resilience and is resilience dries really fast. It flashes over on the top of it, skims over on the top really fast and that's one of the one of the um the qualities about it that makes it kind of rain resistant, water repellent really fast. But it dries really fast. And typically most of the houses we're doing are multiple colors, at least three colors, up to five colors, even six colors when we're painting them. So you don't do a color a day and No, we do go back to a house, do one color one day and come back the next day and go back the next day. Yeah, we're we I mean, we're going to be doing that pretty efficient. Five houses a week. And I would paint one house in a week. You got to overlap. You got to do a different color. You got to be happy. Wow. You got to You got to overlap. That's why I don't paint. Oh my goodness. Can I explain? That's why I don't paint. Can I explain this? Why I do this? So, I don't paint. Oh my gosh. So, you got to be able to overlap your colors. They need to dry really fast cuz you got to mask on them and overlap it and then do, you know, multiple colors. So, I really like Resilience cuz it dries fast. And then I really like the sheen of it. Um, and it's we've had really good luck with it holding up over the years. Um, holding its color and not fading. And it's Aaron says he likes bare paint, but I want to know why you like bear paint. Oh, the family man. What did he tell us? Where's the family? Be bare marquee on trim because it's almost always one coat white, 2 hours rainistant, and holds true color. That's interesting. So, um that's uh it's it's interesting to hear about Bear Paint. I'd like to hear um Bear Marquee cuz I I had uh Bear Paint demo me a whole house uh years back and it was an absolute nightmare um painting with it, but I don't remember what it was, but um so it's interesting. We got somebody uh so Bear Paint is is you up here. It's a do-it-yourself paint. They sell it in Home Depot and stuff like that. They don't give contractor discounts. So I'm curious like the family man um do you get a discount buying it? Where do you buy it? Is it do you discount your Kenneth says he uses Home Depot bear products and so do you get a discount there? It' be interesting to know. Yeah. From Savannah, Georgia. Kenneth Thornton. Elizer. Is that Elizer? So he's asking about staining decks tonight. We're not talking about staining decks. We're That's exteriors, but and the products I use the same decks as Super Deck. So it's a and it's awesome product. So but we're Yeah. Exterior painting. That's staining. Mark I don't know. We want to I think Armando just won this portion of the chat. I use Crayola paint is what he was saying. That's interesting. That's why he's not helping you on the thing. That's why I'm not helping you out on the job site. So, we got somebody that ad doesn't like bear. Um it's interesting. So, we got Robbie Libby Super Paint Bear. Some people that don't like Bear and some people that do like Bear. Um has anybody out there tried Brazilians from Sher Williams? I'm curious about that. is for probably the I think the last 3 four years I've been using on all my exterior um exteriors I've been using resilience and it's very if somebody wants to pay cuz the resilience is a lifetime warranty paint so is duration and emerald if somebody wants um to pay for emerald we'll use emerald but it's um I've had some um issues with it and one of the things it kills grass if you clean your tools and grass that's not good and so what about um Benjamin Moore I don't hear anybody saying they use Benjamin Moore. Anybody use Benjamin Moore? We got Glidden. How do you like Glidden? I' I've used Glidden before and I've um Somebody's trying to call. Somebody's trying to call. Office is closed at 89. Yeah. So, um I've tried Glidden before and um I painted a shed with it and I actually did a video. Oh, that wasn't good. Yeah. Yeah. The paint peeled off. The paint peeled off. It's not good when you're a house painter and the paint peels off your shed. We powerwashed the shed went flying off. I think it was cold when it came. Oh, that has nothing to do with Or was gluten. I'm not sure. But it's not good advertising when you have a So here this is interesting cuz we got Jon Jonathan Jeff said love bear consumer report says it's good. So I'm kind of conflicted with Consumer Reports cuz I hear that um you pay to get your results in and um Consumer Reports and I was told by some high up executives at Sher Williams that they're not willing to pay Consumer Reports what they want. So they're not giving uh Sheron Williams fair reviews. I think what we realized like Angie's List like it started out as a pure referral and now they do advertising. Same with Yelp. And so I have a hard time believing that they don't charge money for the reviews. And I do not like that. Um the one um that seems true still with advertising is the next door neighbor and where people really say who they like. So the best thing is is do quality work and you don't have to pay for advertising on those. We got a lot of people on here that um looks like from that are saying that they use bare paint and they um works very well with 100% acrylic. Aaron Phillips said so. Mr. Andy Bear Beth stinks. I think he meant um bear. But it's we got conflicting people. Some people like bears, some people don't like bear. This um we got one person that um Duncan um Duncan I don't know. It's kind of interesting. Valpar Reserve. I've never tried Valbar Reserve or Valpar paints. I think it's sold in We need a little commercial break. Um you said that we're having two giveaways tonight and we're going to do one of them in about 10 minutes. So to do the giveaway, you have to just chat and that's how you qualify for the giveaway. But also, do you have anything you want to say about if you don't even if you don't chat on here, we can't even find you to give you something away. And if you just said something in the very beginning and um never said anything again, then it's hard to even find you. The more you say stuff on here, the more the better odds of you winning. Oh, so there's only 4 days left to the 4 days left in the Graco giveaway. How do you apply? All you got to do is go to my website. I made it a little little easier to find now. It's just on the front page. You go to the idaho.com and it's right there on the front. It says giveaways. And so it used nap before you had to click on a tab and drop down. And I added um oh I added some aqua coat on there. Aqua coat is said they would provide three cords. Um the grain filler this stuff uh this right here. This court I uh the last job I did cabinet job. We didn't even use a whole quart on the cabinets. We did it in kitchen cabinets. Uh yeah, kitchen cabinets. We did a entertainment center that I just did a video on here recently where we used it and I I probably only used about that much out of this cord. So this stuff goes go a long way. A long long ways. And of course, you're going to get one of my really cool hats. Paint family man gets 20% off at Home Depot. That's pretty good. Where? Oh, you So, you get 20% off. Um, you got to take everything you get is if that's it's uh that's, you know, that's a fairly decent discount. Um, my discount I probably shouldn't say like what it is. You don't need to. It's pretty huge. No, you don't need to. Don't worry about it. All right. It's a good thing the boss is here. Let's see. Okay. We got um ride zar Izzy Benjamin Moore. Yep. Love it. Used resilience. It works good but seems plastic like as it dries. So what Benjamin Moore product do you like? Cuz they have like four different Benjamin Moore sells makes some really really good paint. They have a lot of different lines of products up here. They're just the the corporation doesn't have um a store up here. There's a private Idaho um a retail and so it's um not convenient for us to drive there. Yeah. So there there's it's privately owned and then so there's this big markup. So the cost of the Benjamin Mo is just astronomical up here and then they don't deliver and it's it's kind of a nightmare and they can't supply me with enough paint. But I've used their stuff and it's it's awesome. And you want to be efficient painting you need to be able to have paint. Let's see. Justin Green. Um let's see if we can um Kelly Moore. We don't well we uh Kelly Moore So Kelly Moore up here wrote a paint bought Kelly Moore. Okay used their products. We don't know anything about it. So let let me talk about like sheen too. I'm curious what she's you guys use across the nation. So I know I've heard like over say Florida and some of those wetter climates and some California on the coast people use semig gloss which up here I we don't use semig gloss or gloss on anything. Um I I haven't used I used I did semig gloss on a trim once in like 10 years. So what product did you use today? So I used today we were painting a stucco house. We've been doing a lot of stuckco here recently. And the sheen I use I put not semig gloss. No I always puts flat on stucco and I always put flat on like the artificial looking shakes. I And then the rest of the house is always satin. But why do you use flat on stucco? So stucco when um so when stuckco is put on stucco is flat and I I use flat on stucco so it still looks like stucco like true stucco. So I want it to look like stucco and not be shiny. So um I know some of the painters up here uh put satin but I want it to look like stucco and then the shakes I want them to look like a wood shake and like that's a stain. So, we put flat on the um artificial shakes, um flat on stucco, and then the rest of the house, the body of the house, the siding and stuff is um satin. All our doors are satin, door jambs, window trim are satin. And uh the satin up here holds up really, really well. Have you ever done semig gloss on the exterior of a home? On the on the body on the No, didn't somebody really want it though? told them they would look from California and they wanted semig gloss and that was what they're accustomed to or gloss. Well, so the exterior paints like Sher Williams exterior paints only come in flat uh satin and gloss and the gloss your house would just absolutely look like a piece of plastic. Yeah. And it looks I I don't like it. And I don't like the siding when it is flat either. I like it to have some sheen and then the the the the sheen some sheen is more durable and the the house is more washable and cleanable. So that's why I like to put, you know, um some sheen on it. Satin. Well, we want to see some going on. Please, please me. He wants Okay, we're going to do a pick in about 8 minutes. Little bare interior marquee. One coat over red. That's interesting that this um one coat. It's pretty rare that you can ever get. Um, we use some high quality paints from Sher Williams and Okay, it's it all depends on the color. Car Kelly Moore. So, Kelly Moore was bought out by Roa Paint in Idaho. Idaho. That's everybody's different paint companies. Are there more paint companies out there than the ones we're seeing? Sting start typing more then. So, Jonathan Burke wants to win. So, he's going to start typing more. Let's see. Um, let's see. Mini a hat too. Let's see. Just say no to big box store paint. Yeah, I don't the big box stores up here like the Home Depots and the Lowe's, they don't cater to contractors. The paint's expensive. Um, and then they don't have the volume of paint in there. It's definitely do-it-yourself paint. So, what sheen I haven't seen anybody tell me what she Benjamin Moore and Sharon Williams on houses. Toby Bridges. Joshua Mishkull. Love the hat. Yeah, that's um cool. My sister designed that hat. Okay, but we want to see if anybody's…
