let's see if I can get my phone to to do this is this called Siri hey Siri hey Siri yes D what's the tempo it's like one Dee out Jordan's ears are freezing off all right so it's freaking cold though so there's a big benefit to clients to using liquids uh number one we use way less salt on their parking lots cuz we're running a smaller operation if we want to use an additive what's our option so the pump on this brine maker not only mixes your brine it also fills your trucks so there's options to make this completely portable one of the most common failures in brine is mixing your brine wrong it's a 20000g uh space saer [Music] tank all right guys I'm at vsi Tim Alex and I are back with Jordan and vssi are the guys that actually created and invented the original brine systems uh that are getting so popular now right that's right but you are still an actual plow operation to this day we are and you guys cover 5 million square feet per event but at this facility you can make over a million gallons of brine per year without a problem correct and you're going to show us everything it takes to set up a larger scale brine operation you're going to give us the formulas you're going to walk us like you're going to spoon feed us like babies everything we need to know so that we understand this better so that when a guy is ready to take their stuff to the next level they can use this video to help them understand how to do it is that right that's right going through all of it what are we waiting for and if this isn't worth a thumbs up in the first minute well then I don't know what is so hit that thumbs up button but now let's go to your facility check it out all right all right before we dive into anything more I need to understand your operation and what you do Jordan yeah so we have a plowing company in Mano Minnesota uh cover around 5 million square ft uh of pavement uh we do most of that with heavy equipment loaders with plows and then we use an all liquids operation we haven't spread salt for over 10 years so liquids is extremely vital to our operation and the success of it but you told me last year that the liquids are what's helped you expand your operation because you sell it very specific specifically and I don't want to put the words in your mouth I want them to come out of your mouth how do you do that yeah so there's a big benefit to clients to using liquids uh number one we use way less salt on their parking lots so you don't have all that chalky white Left Behind after a a snowstorm uh number two less tracking in the buildings no dead Turf and Landscaping um and then just the overall reduced chloride load on their properties saves them a ton of money on their long-term infrastructure damage cost so studies show that every ton of salt applied to a property costs between $800 and $33,000 in long-term damage by using liquids we're reducing the amount of Salt by 70% so that's major savings for the clients and that's how we sell it to them so that is the key so you're hearing this right from somebody that's doing this now you invented all of this equipment that we're looking at right yes sir and you yesterday if you guys haven't seen it the Tim and Alex I we got hooked up with a smaller setup that that is the what do you call it uh the the vssi Genesis Brian buddy okay so that Mak 300 Gall per shot yep per batch about 1,000 gallons per hour okay and now what are we looking at with this one yep so this is the vssi by boss Legacy Brian maker so this is the much larger version um this is going to make over 3,000 gallons per hour depending on your water source of course uh requires a little bit more setup and space obviously than the brine buddy requires 220 volt power you need a decent water source and you have to have a loader to load it you can't hand load it like you can with the Brian buddy so there's more involved here but obviously you can make a lot more in return okay all right here's the thing guys Jordan's on well water with 20 Gall per minute so high water flow is not necessarily an issue because you've got that figured out and you're going to show us exactly how you've got this entire operation set up right now that's right okay so walk us through it yeah so one of the most common concerns is uh you know I want to make a lot of brme but I don't have a good water source we have that problem here so the way we've solved that is we've actually put in this tall tank in the background here it's a 2,000g uh space saer tank and you can see that line plumbed into the top and what that is is that's directly off of our well and that has a what's called a float valve on it so what that does is it has constant water pressure to it but it only starts refilling that tank when the water level drops below the bottom of that float just like a float uh a float in the back of a toilet tank as soon as that water goes down it starts refilling but that's not your storage tank that's pure water just for mixing new brine right and the reason that's important is because by having that tank always full of water we have a 2in line pumped into the bottom of that that goes into the manifold on our brine maker so we'll talk about the manifold in a second but that allows us to feed a 2in water feed directly into the BR maker almost as if we had a 2-in water line going right into the BR maker from unisal water so it really does the same thing as having a high flow Municipal Water Source without having to have one on site okay how many gallons can this brine maker make what is this brine maker walk me through the actual brine maker itself please so this is our vssi by boss Legacy brine maker um it is a a single containment system with a hopper inside of a batch tank so when you look inside of there we have two compartments we have the mixing Hopper which is here this is where you dump your salt this is where your high pressure water agitation is that mixes your salt and your water in a salt brine surrounding that mixing Hopper is the batch tank so it's actually a batch tank and a mixing Hopper all in one system so typically Brian makers will have like an overflow tank even some of our old vssi Brian makers had an overflow tank tank instead of having that overflow tank we literally have them all in one piece which takes up a lot less floor space which is nice okay so that's why you did that is so that if guys don't have a ton of space inside of a shot this is kind of a one and you're done correct mixes it set does the whole nine yards everything and it'll do how many gallons it'll do over 3,000 gallons an hour it really depends on your salt but you know we've seen guys as high as 5,000 we've seen guys with more cor salt that may be as low as as 2,000 but a lot of it comes down to your water source you know even though we have this float tank eventually if we make enough batches in a row it'll run out and we have to take a break till our water restores um but in that 3,000g per hour range is very reasonable to expect okay so you said you're going to show us the the heart and soul of this right here yep what are we looking at it in this neck of the woods yep so really important piece of technology here exact same as the brine buddy just on a different brine maker this is our digital cinity reader so this goes into a sensor which is in our batch tank down here there's a sensor inside this tank it's called the trial sensor and that will actually you read the salinity of your brine in real time as we've talked about it's extremely important to mix your brine to What's called the TIC point 23.3% one of the most common failures in brine is mixing your brine wrong cuz like we talked about in video one if you mix to 26.5% it freezes at 32° just like water we don't want to oversaturate our brine at the same time we don't want to mix brine to 15% cuz that doesn't have a very good freeze point either getting that to that 23.3% tic Point gives you a freeze point of -6° f also the most stable solution so that it's not going to fall out of solution in storage so this piece of technology is extremely vital to success your brine operation and we've simplified it by not only having an electronic sensor but it goes to your smartphone so you can read your slity in real time um going beyond that this is what's called our manifold system so the manifold system is really important because not only is this a brine maker this is also a Truck fill station so these valves on the bottom here actually allow you to not only pump your finished brine out when you're done mixing brine it allows you to pull the brine back in and utilize this truck fill port to refill your trucks with your finished brine so the pump on this brine maker not only mixes your brine it also fills your trucks furthermore we talk about brine additives and we can get a little bit more into that later um this has a port for our brine additives as well so on our system this is our brine this is our additive and this is our water from our water flow tank that we talked about now when we're filling our trucks if we wanted to do a 9010 blend in our truck and we had let's say 1,000-gallon tank we could put in 900 Gall of brine shut off that brine valve open our additive valve and put in 100 gallons of additive and now we have a 9010 blend in our sprayer without having to hook and hook up and disconnect hoses it's all just turning Valves and all using the same pump so does does quite a bit of stuff um otherwise if we go back here now this is where with the pump you can't like with our setup one 10 is perfectly fine with this one not so much yep so this does require a little bit more setup and infrastructure as we're kind of finding out as we go here so this uses a 220 volt singlephase pump a very high performing pump but it does require that 220 volt power so if you don't have that set up currently you'll have to have an electrician wired up um it is singlephase you don't need three-phase power but it requires a 30 amp circuit okay so we actually went in the video one and we were going to get this set up and realize that it was overkill for our own needs right but I had already went ahead and pulled the trigger and gotten a generator from uh Freight so if you don't have it and and wiring the power in isn't an option there's a generator that that's why you see me picking up that generator in video One is because we were ready to pull the trigger on this and that was just a plug-and-play generator so there's options to make this completely portable you don't have to be hooked up to city water and you don't have to have high power you can do other things if you want to get by correct yep it is definitely adaptable we have had people install these on trailers to make mobile rind making units and in that case as long as they have water on site they can tap into um they can use that generator to power the brine maker with no problem okay now inside here I don't see any bride this is fresh water so you're not taking up valuable space in a heated shop once your product is done right okay we'll show you what we do out here so and we got it plumbed through the wall yep so as we're going out yep we're going straight out and then let's take a look at once the brine is made you do not have to store it inside right so right here we have our three 5,000g storage tanks Tim hold this phone hold that okay go ahead keep going so here we have our three 5,000g storage tanks this is going to be the most typical recommended setup with a legacy brine maker the way we recommend setting this up is that two of your tanks are going to be for your finished salt brine and one of your tanks is going to be for your brine additive assuming you're in a market where you want to use brine additive at vsi by boss will always recommend using an additive because it will give you better results and more consistent results um that being said the reason we use a 5,000g tank for additive is because we take deliveries in 4,400 gallon tanker loads that's the only way we can take a full load delivery so so wait a minute we're outside hey Siri what's the tempo let's see if I can get my phone to to do this is this called Siri hey Siri hey Siri yes Dan what's the tempo it's like one Dee out Jordan's ears are freezing off all right so it's freaking cold what I'm trying to get at maybe your phone went off mine won't cuz it's an Apple iPhone 15 you know the latest stuff but I guess the point I'm trying to get across is this is good down to what temperature stored outside yeah honestly for storage outside I mean tic salt brine is is good to -6 but when you have it stored in bulk like you know picture the lakes in Minnesota they don't freeze the first day it hits 32° same way for bulk uh Brian in in in bulk when it's stored outside you know we've had some polar vortexes in Minnesota over the last 10 years using brine where it's been - 2030 for 3 4 5 days straight we've never had our brine freeze and that's because it takes a long time for the entire tank a liquid to actually hit that -6 so we've stored our brine outside for the last 10 plus years never had anything freeze so you're not going to have a problem in this climate or really any climate in the US unless maybe you get to Northern Alaska or something like that so now Tim you had a question if cuz we're running a smaller operation if we want to use an additive what's our options is that what you were asking yeah sort of like a smaller scale company just using a 305 and uh you know just getting getting going on Brian getting their feet wet and yeah so so if if you're one of those companies that that is starting off in Brian you're using a Brian buddy like we did in the first video getting a 5,000-gallon tank for additive is probably not a practical solution because you're going to spend more money on the tank and filling the tank with additive than you're going to spend on your whole other brine operation just doesn't make Financial sense right so in that case uh there's a couple options first option is if you have a local supplier you buy an IB C tote that you can load in and out of your truck with your forks you go to a local supplier and they'll fill you up the other option is most of the suppliers will ship you totes full of liquid it's a more expensive way to buy you're going to pay some Freight you're going to pay some handling you're going to pay for that tote um but there are plenty of suppliers that will ship all across the country with full totes of liquid additive okay so before I interrupted you where were we going with this Dr yeah so I mean basically the premise here is that even though the Legacy brine maker does make 800 gallons a batch and even though it does does have its own containment storage um in order to get the most out of that system we're not going to use that as our only storage we want to get the most out of the system we want to have some of this bulk storage so in this case we have 10,000 gallons of bulk brine storage meaning we can make about 12 batches of brine in our brine maker before our storage is full that gives us a reserve to use that way we're not trying to mix brine during a snow event that way we're not scrambling if we use up what's in there we always have this reserve on hand and we can mix brine between events okay and next up we're going to go in side and we're going to cover numbers we're giving everything to you guys Jordan's not holding back and then we're going to actually go out to one of your remote locations and show how you've actually improved the efficiency of your operation and not tied it down to one facility is that correct that's correct and then maybe we'll do a quick quick brief tour around here but let's go inside and start covering some numbers did we get everything covered outside I think we did all right let's go inside
