What happens here

After spreading the wet paver sand, use a hose to continuously spray water onto the pavers. This helps the wet sand mixture flow and settle into all the joints and crevices between the pavers. Simultaneously, use a rubber squeegee and/or a stiff-bristled broom to actively push and work the wet sand down into the gaps. Ensure all joints are completely filled to achieve proper paver stability and weed prevention. The narrator explains that this resin-based sand cures by oxidation (exposure to oxygen) as it dries, which is why wet application is effective and appropriate.

Goal: Fully fill all paver joints with the wet-applied sand.

Tools and materials

  • Broom — Sweeping the wet sand into the joints and clearing excess from the paver surface
  • Hose with Nozzle — Wetting the pavers and helping the sand flow into joints
  • Rubber Squeegee — Pushing and working the wet sand into the paver joints
  • Water N/A — To facilitate sand flow and compaction
  • Wet-Applied Paver Sand Alliance — The material being worked into the paver joints
