Apply Caulk to Horizontal Exterior Seams and Smooth

After addressing vertical seams, move on to horizontal joints, such as those along the bottom of window frames, where siding meets a foundation, or other horizontal transitions. Apply the caulk using the same technique: hold the caulk gun at a 45-degree angle and apply a continuous, even bead. Immediately after application, use a gloved finger, a specialized caulking tool, or a wet sponge to smooth the applied caulk bead. This action ensures the caulk is pressed firmly into the joint, creating a proper seal and providing a neat, professional finish. Wipe away any excess caulk with a damp cloth or sponge before it cures.
