Such a simple solution, just a regular PVC adapter that can prevent tons of headaches in the future.

What happens here

Begin by assessing the existing downspout and determining the optimal location for the 'Y' cleanout adapter. The cleanout should be positioned at a height that is easily accessible for a person to unscrew the cap and insert a leaf blower. Using a measuring tape, measure the exact length of the 'Y' adapter (from the top inlet to the bottom outlet). Mark the corresponding section on the downspout that needs to be removed.

Goal: Determine placement and prepare downspout for modification.

Tools and materials

  • Existing Downspout — The drainage pipe receiving the modification
  • Marker — Marking the cut lines on the downspout
  • Measuring Tape — Measuring the length of the 'Y' adapter and marking the downspout
