What happens here
Once you have applied the masking film along the entire desired edge, you will need to cut the film and tape to finish the section. Use a utility knife or the built-in cutter on your hand-masker tool (if it has one) to make a clean, straight cut at the end of the run. The person in the video quickly cuts the film at the top after reaching the end of the vertical section they were working on. After making the cut, gently but firmly smooth down all the edges of the applied painter's tape with your finger or a plastic putty knife. This critical step ensures maximum adhesion between the tape and the surface, which is vital for preventing any paint from seeping underneath and maintaining a crisp, professional paint line.
Goal: Finish masking the section by cutting the film and securing the tape edges.
