(9,880 characters)If you look right down in here, paint the handle rubs on there. The gaskets are completely shot. We're going to do a toilet tank rebuild today. I'm going to go with my old trusty here, the universal all-in-one by Fluid Master. We'll be able to get this up and running quick. You want to find your toilet shut off valve. A little old, but you know what? It's working. Give it a flush. to make sure no more water is coming out. Doesn't sound like it. I like just grab my little Milwaukee Packout vacuum. All right. So, I'm going to cover up that seat just cuz I don't want to be on it or touching it. We're going to take the water off just counterclockwise. It should be handtight. And a pair of pliers. and we'll start removing the nuts. Okay, you just want to go counterclockwise with these as well. Get that off. Do the other side. Not that bad. Then you just can grab your tank. I just like to set it right here. You see everything. This way you can flip it around. If you have a towel down, you're not going to break it. You're not going to scratch your lid. You're not going to do any of that stuff. So, it makes it pretty easy. You're going to want a garbage can. All right. All these pieces, we're just going to chuck everything. Got a little cleaning wipe here. It's totally urine and other gunky stuff to come off there. You just want to make sure all this is clean. That way you give yourself the best possible seal. Yeah, perfect. These are just half inch. I don't know what size the other ones were, but I couldn't get them off with my nut driver. You guys ever use these Quinn nut drivers? Man, I'll tell you what, I love them. I mean, check that out. You know, it turns into a tea handle for tightening. You'll see in a minute. Like, super cool. Harbor Freight find. So glad this stuff came off the way that it did. They don't always come out this way. All right, these little things might come in handy. I think I might keep these just because we'll see how this sets on the tank. I think this could work out really well for this. You want to get this off. These Kipex Cobra jaws open up pretty good size. These 12 in. And that's going to be able to pop that right out of there. We're able to take this and just flip it the whole way around. And so now we're in the tank. And you can see like as we start pulling this stuff up, these gaskets are trashed, man. Okay, let's get this unhooked right here. Get that unhook that off of there. So, look, all this comes out of here and those are all ready to be replaced. Okay, let's just get it gone. Gaskets start deteriorating like that and they're leaving black stuff all over. Time to go. Get some paper towel in here and let's get all this nastiness soaked up. That looks pretty good to me. One other thing we got to do here. These are reverse nuts. So, righty tighty to take off. Okay. But you can see right there that is worn down. It's been worn down. They Well, they broke off that part of it and then it's just been wearing on the side of the tank ever since. We're going to fix that today. I'll show you how. Stick around. So, now we've got our kit. Let's just open this up. Red rubber tends to last a bit longer. Just get these separated. You can take this and stick this in here like so. Make sure you leave this bottom gasket on here. You stick this in. And you're going to kind of put it in an angle. You don't want to block the holes for the bolts. This one right here. I don't know how this know where it's rolling yet. I think we're going to have to adjust it just a little bit up. This is just a, you know, a feel after a while. It's just a little feel after a while of where you want this. All right, I'm going to go probably right there. We'll see where that is. I can always do micro adjustments with this piece. You can always do micro adjustments right here on this little screw style adjustment. This is for micro adjustments. And then this is like the macro, the big stuff. Okay, we'll just leave that right like so. Before you put this in, you're going to need this gasket right here. It's good. This little kit comes with everything you need to rebuild your toilet outside of a supply line. If you needed to put a new supply line on, you would want to buy one of those as well. We got a bag full of bolts, nuts, and washers. At this time, the only thing you really need two washers, two of these brass nuts. Set everything else aside. We'll be using that in a little bit. And you just put this right there, like so. Okay. And now we're ready to flip this thing back around. And now we have everything sticking out right in front of us. Let's get that cleaned up a little bit as well. Put this nut right here on. I'm going turn it sideways at this point. That way I can see that it's still that way and I can tighten it right here. You want to hold in the back where you where you actually want this to sit and tighten up. Okay. You'll feel when it's getting tightened. And we're going to stick one black washer on each of these nuts right here. And then we'll go regular washer and a nut. grab our half inch nut driver and we can turn. Like I said, nice thing about this is we can get it torqued. It's awesome. These hollow shaft nut drivers this way are really great. And then the fact that you're actually putting nuts and washers on this means you're sealing up the whole tank. If the tank did move just a little bit, it's not going to leak right here. Now, as far as our fill valve goes, you can get this nut started and put on here as well. Going to want to turn just to have a look at the way this is facing. You just want it out of the way, right? This is probably a good setup. We're actually going to have to cut the overflow tube, too. We'll do that after this. Just keep that steady. Go handtight. We can go a little bit past handtight with this as well. Don't have to go crazy. All right, but another quarter of a turn. Here's one more thing I want to do. We have extra washers left over from before. I'm going to put those washers on the bottom side of that nut. And then I'm going to put this piece right here down on there. I think it's going to add a little bit more stability. A lot of times on toilets, they're going to have little nubs like here and here and back here that actually allow the toilet to set and compress. This particular setup, if I just put this on like this, it's going to have a little bit of flex. Like I said, the flex won't matter. This is not going to leak. This is a good quality seal. And then these are sealed up. But better safe than sorry. This little nub situation's a good stopper as well. And so, I don't know. We'll see. We'll see what it does. Maybe they don't do anything, but I think it's a good little spot for them. Set it right on there like so. Rubber washer, regular washer, and then nut, nut driver. And we'll start just righty tighty. Getting this tightened up. A little bit on one side, a little bit on the other. Tighten it up evenly. That's as tight as I'm willing to make it in there. We're going to adjust this up just a little bit more. Let's go right just right about the height of the tank. You want this flush valve tube to be lower than your tank lever right here. So, let's get a good measurement on that. A little bit under 10 to the bottom of this. And where I'm going to cut this is around nine. That's going to give us the difference they want on the the fill valve as well. [panting] Okay. Should have done that before, but it is what it is, right? Mistakes were made, lessons were learned. Let's take this piece that clips into the tube. That you just clip right down on there. Okay, let's get that pushed right up on there like so. This one is going to do the same thing, right? It's going to catch. It's going to rub. Heat this up a little bit and put a little dog leg in there and that's going to be great. All right, we're good now, boys and girls. Look at that. Look at that. Nothing in our way. We'll be able to hit that third hole no problem. And I had to make that dog leg back here. I'll be able to hit this hole right here with our chain and we should be good. left for tight on your handles. So, you want a little bit of slack in this chain. You don't want a ton. Okay. So, before I cut any chain or any of that, I'm just going to test it out a couple of times. That's pretty good. We've got just a little bit like two lengths of flop there, which that's fine. That's going to allow our flapper to set. Not going to have any issues. We'll leave a couple more links just in case there has to be any future adjustment. Okay. As soon as I saw this piece right here, I knew I wasn't putting it back on. You can feel that little divot right there. I've had this whole thing split right there, break off, and start flooding a place. It actually was my house um back in the day and my roommate Aaron luckily was home. that was in his bathroom and he came and shut the water off but he's like dude it was crazy water going everywhere. I mean you can imagine a 3H line full open just blowing. Okay so we will just get this off. All right so we got a new one built just a little bit differently than the old one. Go ahead and get that started right there. Pan tight. Just a little bit more past that. Same thing right here on the bottom. Now we'll start filling that up. Slowly open that the rest of the way up. I like to go a quarter turn back just to make sure this valve doesn't stick. Look for leaks. Make sure everything is good. More water leaking in there. It actually flushes good now. It doesn't hang up. When I walk into the bathroom, it's not going to be running. I really hope you folks are enjoying the videos. If you could please subscribe, click the like button.
