🔴 Spraying Metallic Finishes

oh I don't like seeing this it just lacks okay I hope everybody had a awesome Memorial Day we were gone last week yes welcome to paint live TV we've been gone for like 10 days why are we here now to do a live show to educate and empower you and its people passionate about painting that's the patient life community I'm super excited about and we have huge exciting news yeah the traveling trousers course it's his pants yes yes so he's getting one he's getting and then they went - Jenny - Jenny tootin and so she's getting a sticker t-shirt and then they went to XC painter and so we know there's a package and we have another painter that they're gonna be sent out to probably tomorrow and so after that person sends them back to us then they get a shirt that's how it works it's like you get it send it back to us we send you a shirt and then we send just the next person who's it going to know cool waters yep yep so we got meet her she's awesome got to beat her and she's in San Diego she is sunny San Diego down by the beach yes so I'm sure we're gonna see some pretty cool stuff by the beach so we missed you guys last week so no thinking you guys had a great couple weeks Ryan pencils with us and upward jones is with us and the goal is is to have the trebling trousers stay within the Mafia and then branch out from there so um Brad pickin Braden pickin is on uh si Edward Jones is with us yep and EXCI painters with us there you go so I'm Ryan when's the baby coming I know he's painting a nursery he has a baby coming oh there we go that's normal that's that Petzl is that your conditioner working in here cuz it is it's very very very hot so to get when you got all these studio lights blazing down on you yeah and you realize that we went fishing yesterday happens when you're a star you just heat up okay we went fishing yesterday and I just looked at the lights on me and you could tell we got sunburned and we're wearing sunglasses we got blade we got blazed by the Sun and I caught a fish and I'll show you the picture oh no my oldest our birthday September 13th so yeah so I'll put the Vice I'll put the picture on our paint life crew no yes she made me hold the fish and I'm not a big fish holder when you catch a fish you hold the fish and then you take pictures with the face yep and then we don't eat the fish but we let the fish go I accidentally dropped my fish yeah well yeah that wasn't very good you drop them in the mon-sol fish had a headache and we have yeah but we still let him loose anyways so so we have some exciting things were talking about tonight yeah so we're gonna talk about today John I did a super cool project and this was something you don't get to do very often and we sprayed a metallic finish on a an iron front door amazing iron front door - Anna I'm Amish elements probably like I know like a five six thousand dollar at least and or maybe more about $10,000 higher and we did some other iron work with a metallic gold finish and we sprayed it on with an HVLP sprayer and then we did on three fireplaces in a metallic finish but a different product so cool so are you in post pictures on Instagram there's gonna be pictures on Instagram behind ya but John and I shot some really cool video doing the fireplace and the door so stay tuned because that is coming out soon I'll show you a picture of the door and hopefully they can get an idea just from the picture but I don't know if they can see that very well let me see if people can see that let me see em see and it's kind of a little bit shiny but you can stay tuned on the things that have helped you if you haven't seen the video I did the video it is one of those things it's kind of just kicking around we have them in all the vans we got multiples of them and I'd like to show people things that really are kind of game-changing tools and the reason why that one is a game kg tool we started using them because one time we used to just carefully lean our gut our ladders up on gutters and get up on houses because some cutters are wrapped around the whole house and you can only get up there by foot leaning an extension ladder on the gutters and we are very careful but careful enough to actually bend the gutter and it was a seamless gutter a length of probably a hundred and fifty feet and they costed us about two hundred fifty dollars to fix the gutter and so after that I decided there's got to be some your tool or something to help and I found the tool and we just bought them put them in our vans and they're not they're like $45 that $45 could have saved me 250 and I know over the last 12 years it could have saved me or it did sent me a lot more and so what if I'd ever see ladders and the guys leaning in ladders on extensions on gutters see at least now I get a little a little irritated with it and I always walk over and tell them to put them up and we do sell them in our own store our own paid life store John's got him in there we believe in him that much that we sell yeah that's why I brought him here yeah so we were working up in the mountains and what something because we are about educating empowering equipping hi Stuart thanks for being with us and we are a small business and we want to get better at what we're doing and so we kind of every year we go and work at least a week up in the mountains and we it was your great idea and it was great building oh yeah no you got into team belly yeah okay so I'm from the Byzantine building yeah and then we'll talk about metallic finishes later we just mix it up so I lost a lot of money team-building it was so weird these this great idea so everybody comes up in we stay in our cabin so all the guys packed in the cabin sleeping bags and everything and just a bunch of sweaty guys after you know workday and they said machine Lisa gets up and she makes him breakfast and she made him dinner which is really cool so that was that was awesome they didn't have to fend for themselves and you even brought him lunch so that was pretty rising and so that's good team building stuff to show them that you know you're part of the team and you care for him but then we did some we had a horseshoe tournament so um I put up a bunch of money how many they gave like it was a tournament hundred dollars to the winner I think fifty dollars you know for a second twenty dollars for third so that doesn't the point we don't know how much money but you had in some it was like yeah something like that I mean and so but it gives them incentive to play I mean everybody wants to play for money and they don't have to put in their own money to make the pool and so we had a horseshoe tournament and then we had a twenty one tournament so just blackjack tournament so yeah I gay I created a pot for them to win at blackjack and then but you skipped over we did a slingshot tournament we did a slingshot tournament so but you you skipped something over I said if anybody would win Chris at horseshoes cuz he's really good you get Lisa offered him a hundred hundred dollars to anybody that can beat me in horseshoes one person did if he got me first one the only reason he beat me is because he had been playing for hours he had chance to warm up I didn't so the first guy I say and so but he was he was actually pretty good at horseshoes he took second in the tournament overall with all the guys without me in there so he was good so that was kind of gold but our slingshot Carroll in school if you want to go to Instagram check that Lucas nailing behind convenor bottle but what was cool is like I saw that you posted that bottle caps and I'm like why ain't it going what the heck is that and then it turned into our video it turned into Lucas whacking the high a beer bottle full Heineken yep he knows how to use a slingshot um so Lucas was the slingshot champion and then we had the horseshoe tournament three guys tied pro P safety Sally and then who was else in there I don't know oh come on we got to come up it was Jake Jake oh yes they all been tied for this um for first so that was kind of cool yeah what else like we might hit horseshoes you and Bodie we went way you know you got a new phone so I got a um yes so it was crazy so we went boating and we got a wakeboard boats I took the guys out wakeboarding we got to go fueling that really like wakeboarding so Gabriel loves wakeboarding so we took him wakeboarding real fast you sure can if somebody saying they want Spanish chat we need to help this in here that's a good idea I think that's a great idea great idea so um very cool so you're going wait 14 and you got a new phone you're on your story so yeah so it's kind of cool and we went wakeboarding and my phone I have an iPhone X I accidentally set it on the back of the boat and it's in the bottom of the lake yeah so that costed me $1300 um that's an expensive phone don't lose your iPhone x1 hey and then Lucas did a backflip off the boat and he had his glasses on his same losses and so those are at the bottom leg - and those were $270 yeah so expensive yeah like Scott it's got us by like 15-7 we did learn something I mean we want to move on to your glasses we're croakies and keep your phone in your pocket or put a floaties on it yeah about team-building Oh TV the team-building thing yeah we are we want to encourage you to do cuz it worked out great for us and we want to do more of that we heard that corn something for one of those barn home is supposed to be like really cool so so we're gonna get that in for next yeah there's a new sponsor got a new so we're kind of just getting back to we're in June and so yeah yeah to Thursdays probably not this Thursday coming up in next Thursday yeah yeah I know you sure it'll be not this Thursday these folks in Aegina because we have a lot of catching up to do so yeah we do and we are still waiting to open that package right there yep and so I'm gonna um we it's kind of cool so we did sprayed metallic finishes and so I'll show you the product one of the products we use and this stuff is really really expensive so and here it is it's modern masters hope you guys can see that so we're gonna talk about metallic finishes kind of a little bit of glare so it's comes from Sun Valley California and Valley California I said in the video I said Sun Valley Idaho oh and John corrected me so I believe it was right around $50 a quart so $200 a gallon is what it ends up being you want to not waste it yeah so the stuff is absolutely amazing you have to see the video and we applied it with an HVLP sprayer and one of the things that recommendations is not to do that because you know spraying up to an HVLP could shooter the sheen of it and knock down the sheen of it and do some funny things with it but we had some really good success spraying it with an HBO because their risky door was a lot of how wrought-iron intricate stuff on there and there's an airless sprayer would waste way too much of the product and brushing it and rolling it was Impractical so we did it with an airless but then because it's an exterior door we need to clear coat it so it's clear Cody we're clear coating with a satin finish which it doesn't matter what the sheen of it is anyways because it had a clear coat going over the top of it so we put that's very risky yeah that's what I meant I mean when you try new things that's what we're here for so testing out products and seeing pushing them to the limit and seeing what they can do the door left absolutely amazing it was a black door just black iron in the gold like I say the video we're gonna show you a how-to video what we did but we sprayed it with an HVLP sprayer we thinned it down about 15 to 20 percent with latex extender and it's just that the finish was fabulous if you ever want a metallic finish on anything metal it can be used on canvas it can be used on furniture it can be used on iron stuff it's it was amazing and we'll have probably you know in the video will show you where you can get it and stuff where you can purchase it and then we did another thing was I sprayed and it - 2 fireplaces and that was a different product we used because the one product we found and we got it in right Ryman's and they happen to have it at Ryman's because they have a lot of faux finish type products there the stove paint we had to order online we did a search for it and don managed to find some online and and it comes in multiple colors metallic finishes and it takes it takes a black stove and makes it look absolutely amazing the customer was blown away completely happy and so the I like that iron door the modern on the finish that we use you see any questions to make sure you know answer the questions if people how many questions about it you didn't we didn't have to do you don't have the prime so the product is a self priming product and experiment extremely durable but then the no the the topcoat we put on at the clear coat which you have to use the modern masters clear coating was it like helmsmen everything it was the modern masters we sprayed that and that has I don't remember John said like some crazy thing like he can type it in here because John is here he's somewhere on the computer screen but I don't know like 300 on scrum cycles or something like that's something ridiculous so it really cool stuff but avoid the warranty if you don't clear coat it with modern masters so whatever you do buy the top coat or the bottom coat and the top coat yeah from modern masters so again and they got um you know an array of colors and stuff to choose from so it was an expensive door and it was expensive to coat so but the it was well worth that we it was awesome the fireplace we just masked it off um didn't have the sand and or anything another self-priming product metallic product I just wiped the fireplace down with denatured alcohol to clean it and just make sure there was no contaminants on it and then I sprayed three coats of the metallic finish on it and very simple easy to do any do you know that this is called the the snow king comes in spray cans Oh in the spray cans or I could do that it's the video I showed in the video any do-it-yourself we're gonna do and they can take their black fire blaze pull and make it look amazing so don't some 3,000 screen is that true or is that a typo no that's saying it was some ridiculous so three thousand not three hundred so Brian we just were introduced to these and we thought they're really cool and really handy it everybody should have them so tell me Brian he said thank you first then tell me if you liked it if you used it what you thought of it because that's I mean that's what we're here for it's like the stuff that works for us we want to share with you yeah because that's gonna make this all successful and so tell them what are these I was floating upside down that's where like the scream keeps showing that it's like okay where are you showing that it's not straightening right yeah it just says it's okay Carrie it's like if anybody jump with joint action join you there over there but John could tell me what if the stream looks good or not so they will show that we are sunburned glass marks how does the lighting look how does the stream look I don't know I saw my lights there and she look beautiful going no no no because I I got sunburned and then I saw white but you know it is what it is could you tell them about these because we're gonna give away a couple and we're gonna give away a couple stickers tonight so let's tow paint is it's and the reason why we didn't use the modern masters because the stove paint is high heat pay hope I said that so whenever you paint a fireplace it's got to be high heat yeah or you risk the paint the paint burning bubbling or blistering or something so real fast from finished Regina said that you use snap try snap tie we did use snap dry one time and that's a sherwin-williams product that dries really fast so it's really good for people that want to paint a front door take the front door down paint it you can rehang it really fast but the weather strips back in we were using it on some interior trim and we didn't like it so we started with it we were gonna do the whole house with it and we we did not like how it covered it seemed to be kind of translucent and I don't know when we were spraying it it didn't seem to flow level very well and we stopped using it like right away and with right back to what we normally use which was so low so Brian said he used it on a run he had on an interior door and it worked amazing snap right no oh this oh yes if you know if you're a painter and you don't have these things you have to get these things and yet you have to keep them in your vehicles and and if not they were designed and created to test whether the paint is oil-based…
