are from renewed Homestead you live in Burnsville um North Carolina and we're out here hanging out we're gonna move the cows you guys have a homestead right we do all right stick around to the end we'll tell you all about their Homestead but introduce yourself real quick I'm Denise and I'm Ben and they're from renewed Homestead that's right as you just pretty simple um uh before we get started here guys we're going to be moving the cows today uh is there anything in particular that you guys might be curious about and you can pop questions all all you want to while we're out here moving the cows we're gonna unroll a bale of hay to them with the Greg Judy Balin roller uh cows are right here in front of the house um do you have any questions before we get started with all this these guys are totally new to YouTube totally new to social media so it's pretty awesome so excuse me just just excited to be out here uh three hour drive this morning to get out and yep and help out and learn and laugh the house in the fog at 5 30 this morning ish um no sleep in the eyes still you guys are wide awake I had 15 cups of coffee on the way up yep uh so guys it's just fun to this is just part of uh being in the social media world is being able to collaborate with folks like this and being able to share my experiences help teach them a little bit about their Homestead about farming about what I've done so uh take a look over on their channel in about two days two or three day I don't know how long does it take you guys to edit a video nah it should be up probably since we're going to visit my dad tonight it'll probably be up Friday Friday okay so look for around Friday renewed Homestead there's a link there go go check out their Channel subscribe to it and they'll have a video of the full farm tour we're not doing a full farm tour today uh on live power companies here now we're not doing a full farm tour on the live but we are going to go out and we're going to feed the cows and take care of them so this is our first live experience though yeah yeah it's fun uh they've already been briefed there's a there's no swearing there's no hitting uh there's no fighting there's no arguing there's no mud wrestling so only the cows can do that so uh they're doing it here's the power company uh that just got here so hang tight for a second guys we're gonna watch these guys um right down there they are you guys might get to just do your own live stream right here by yourself because I'm not letting those people in my grass there is no way at all so um uh no they're putting in Spectrum uh Wireless so first thing we got drama let's hop into Kubota all of us and we're gonna ride down there and I'm gonna tell them not to get in there two minutes into the live stream this is a busy day on the farm I've got a wood splitter on the way today guys and uh absolute busy busy busy day on the farm every day is a busy day all right let's cruise down here and talk to him hopefully this guy doesn't cuss right [Music] it's gonna be fired up in the mud here he's blocking my road down there this is the worst possible day Spectrum could be here uh we got three quarters of an inch of rain yesterday and the field is just it's like oatmeal it's bushy totally mushy I'm gonna hand the camera off and these guys will let them chat with you real quick about their channel so get ready fire off some questions to them for sure guys step right over here and I'm handing off the camera to move guys and you can just chat away I'm gonna shut this off all right get down you can answer the question okay all right we'll stay here he's trying to follow me all right guys new to the gimbal sorry we'll get there but yeah yeah so uh I mean hopefully you guys check us out on our Channel but renewed Homestead uh we moved to oh oh I didn't hit anything I promise sorry guys the gimbal's being a little weird I did not judge anything I promise yes yeah maybe maybe he's going to stabilize no no I don't I don't know I did not hit it we're newbies oh look at the cows here let's turn here the cows I guess are overdue to be moved and they that's why they're bellerin so bad they want they want fresh grass so we're going to be doing that with uh Josh here shortly but uh no I'm just saying we moved from Arizona a couple years ago moved 2 000 miles and we're in uh Western North Carolina so yeah we're in the mountains yeah now uh let's see reading the comments here has dealt with cows cows are machinery [Laughter] [Music] this gimbal just wants to flop on us here sorry hold on oh baby you got it maybe here move your hand it might yeah well [Music] all right hold on guys we'll get it it's not us it's the training the it started going crazy I didn't touch anything I promise it just suddenly flopped okay so it wasn't me I think she count it no we're in good State all right so uh let me turn my mic back on so you guys can hear me oh everything turned off all right we're back now we're gonna go feed the cows uh so what what had happened was uh I went over and talked to these guys and uh I just needed to be pretty firm with them say you're not don't get in my pasture in my grass because it's super super muddy right now there's no way all this hard work is going to be ruined by uh the cable company so uh we're gonna zip on up grab the four-wheeler roll out a bale of hay Good Times I've seen you all on Billy's Channel who's Billy Billy from from hash's Farm okay cool nice nice all right let's see if we can break something this morning this thing will get stuck on a wet banana peel oh so I had to put it in four-wheel drive because he's really good at pushing yeah sounds like fun and we'll take it out of four-wheel drive because this is going to be max speed in the Kubota RTV this is to the floor yeah hold on hold the whole time everybody this is horrible we're Max Speed 13 I think up the hill here we got 12. there's 13. awesome want to win the lottery and buy land so I can have a farm imagine that's funny let me tell you what winning the lottery isn't gonna buy you land and have you I think you have a farm brother hard work is what's going to do it so I get that question a lot do you win the lottery or something this is I live in a 30. coffee cup I live in a 3 500 house I didn't win the lottery but I do work it does nice nice new roof and believe it or not my uh heating and air system is isn't running as much as it was now so hey imagine that yeah so we're gonna I'm gonna whip the camera around guys we're gonna show you what we're gonna do this morning if you have any questions or comments please just post them up there I appreciate you if you're leaving any super chats or Stars thank you all so very much every little bit helps right now we're rolling out um 47 a day to the cow so yeah it's 50 bucks a day basically to feed the cows this is um the Greg Judy Balin roller and basically what we do is take this Bale this is an old Bale from last year actually you can see how crusty it is underneath there good goat hay right there good cow hay but somebody would not feed that two horses so we'll take this the ATV I'll get a wet butt and we'll go inside the gate um and get her all squared away and I was going to wipe the seat off but ah I think I'm just gonna have to use my my hands there you go we're going to fire this Critter up let him get a little bit warm maybe come on baby it's cold last night well this thing is starting bad here lately I'm gonna have to do a tune-up there we go all right so I'll let you open the gate for me if you want to Ben and uh you see how I got this I'll show you this real quick you guys are just now building your fence on your farm right yes we are okay so there's a specific way that I always latch the gates here on the farm so you think about this if this was on the inside and it was hanging like that cow or a horse could or donkey could potentially grab it and open it so what we always do I try to always do it on the outside but it doesn't always work that way and I always lift and touch behind right there so if an animal gets a hold of this whether it catches an ear tag or whatever and they pull up it actually pulls it down in and locks it down into place very small a little bit better yeah very small everything's done for a reason horses are smart they'll figure it out and let themselves out that they are that's for sure now this thing is a Greg Duty Bailon roller and this is going to be our new camera person so um that is the power button right there all right that's the flip up button that flips it up right all you need to do really yeah is that but you probably won't even have to do that you can just follow us if you turn your hand it will it will slowly turn oh that's nice and it keeps it pretty stable yep I would hold it down there there you go all right we'll drive on in pretty good yep I'll just let you follow us on in here so we already have some hay down on the ground here and watch your ankles there you go gotcha and it's it's sloppy watch your step yeah the first thing we do with our bailing unroller here is uh just remove my string always keep this is called a Milwaukee Fastback always keep this on me either that or a good pocket knife this is the first of two forty seven dollar hay bales that will be rolled out to the cows here this today so later on this evening I will roll another bale out and tomorrow will be uh moving them hopefully across the road to some more fresh grass uh I've got around ten thousand dollars worth of hay here on the farm for the winter so ah ten thousand dollars to feed 30 three cows and a donkey it's expensive however as time goes on we'll we'll have to feed less and less hay and we'll have more winter forage so right now we're building this soil as you can see the grasses they're much much better than they used to be so yeah here we go if somebody has a question and you want to fire it off oh ten dollar Super Chat Don yep thanks thanks Don appreciate it buddy hey moo cows good morning Moo cows you don't have to follow me you can just follow the camera and then we'll after this we'll roll this out we'll let the girls eat [Music] look out gotcha we'll let the girls eat and we'll have a little chat with everybody watching all right girls you ready to eat thanks sir [Music] let's go girls come on guys happy cows happy cows look well that would enrolled perfect we're gonna head right on now to the uh I'm just going to take the four-wheeler out and then we'll visit with the cows a little bit [Music] don't have to come this way with it you got it they are they were grumpy my baby's babies they were grumpy so I'm gonna toss this in here real quick before we shut the gate yep sometimes we'll get a little chunky monkey but ah I guess you could have shut the gate if I was gonna throw it over it huh sometimes sometimes we have a little chunky monkey that's still stuck on the uh uh Bale and roller so I'll take the camera now what do you guys think oh man thank you again for that Super Chat uh who sent that Super Chat let's scroll down here Don McCall thank you so much Don stepped in it really appreciate it are you guys getting poop on you oh yeah oh man it's just it's all organic so that's right um yeah yeah so again we're here with renewed Homestead these guys came down from Burnsville North Carolina today neighbors North Carolina neighbors you're pretty much neighbors with Justin Rhodes up there also uh you watch Justin Rhodes Channel or do you know of Justin Rose he's up there in the Asheville area I thought it was closer this way but I think he is uh show oh gosh I've I got an email from him the other day and he told me exactly where he was but Shelby maybe but that's I think Shelby Shelby's we're Eastbound and Down the show you ever seen that show Eastbound and Down yeah yeah Kenny Powers anybody watch Eastbound and Down on here anybody that's watching right now tell me that's a funny show we're gonna walk around look at the cows real quick and then we'll do a little q a guys the cows are not pleased with eating hay right now we are getting into those uh colder months typically I don't want to feed hay until uh middle of January if possible you know got some youngins there that are real cute so I don't want to I don't want to feed hay out here throwing money out on the land is not what what farming's all about in most cases but what I'm doing is buying time and you see number 17 this is karate cow watch Karate cow because if you touch karate cow's backside it'll see a little karate you yes that's why karate cow's called karate cow good to know so what the what the cows are doing here we're just buying a little time uh before we move them over to some Greener forage over on the other side of the farm this is a regenerative farm and and we're not putting down chemical fertilizers we're using manure and hay to help heal the land so yeah that's it uh they asked if you're a retired military we just had that conversation he's he's got he's wearing the shirt he's supporting the Army today that's it it's just just for warmth I am not military that's it so looking at your grass and pastures with the girls are worn down Richard says so looking at your grass pastures where the girls are is worn down opposite side is greener and healthier because of that traffic not because the cows ate all the green grass my brother that's it um got a couple cows that are friendly here that will let you pet them let's see uh butt head is number three look at this cow's eyes have you ever seen a cow with blue eyes there's a blue tinge to this cow's eyes right here it's okay it has a different color eyes and then uh most cows Butthead is right over there big old girl and this is Mona Mona's called Mona because she's always grunting and moaning um a big girl she is a big girl if we can find sweetie this is Susie Susie is sometimes really friendly hey girl you wanna give me cow kiss you want to give me a cow kisses yeah I've heard that Angus are far more standoffish is that what you have found or is it just depend on how much time you spend with them it just depends on the cow it's kind of like a you know people have a personality um but it just kind of depends on the cow so yeah she's like up stranger danger stranger I'm out um so yeah if uh if you train them with a bucket in other words uh Susie has always been really sweet um sweetie number 39 was a cow that would not cross the road down here with me I'm gonna turn the camera around so we can all be in in the frame here um sweetie had to be trained to be sweetie um what I did was I had a bucket of grain uh sweet feed and yeah and she was stuck on this side of the road and she was afraid to stand on the gravel or walk on gravel she'd never walked on gravel before so finally I I coached her and coached her after three days of enticing her to go across the road and she would let me hug on her and rub on her and all kinds of stuff so if you got a bucket and you've got a little time you can train him to uh to be your friend Denise is the queen of bribery okay got our sheep they had not been rotationally grazed they had been in a pen they were clean yeah but um we're very skittish so I brought some we tried to give them mostly grass we don't give them grain too often but I go and give them sweet feed As a treat yeah and now I'm almost all of our sheep now will run up to me and yeah well that's a good thing because they it's not a matter of if they get out it's a matter of when they get out and they are going to get out so that that's a good thing to help train your animals so um yeah I'm gonna whip the camera back around a little bit guys and let you guys see see some more cow action Live cow action um we're gonna go see if we can find sweetie sometimes sweetie's a little standoffish around strangers but we'll we'll go check her out we'll go through this obvious ly in our video but but for people that might be wondering why did you choose the donkey over a livestock Guardian dog well you think about we've got we've got cows out here right how much do these cows weigh you think with a maximum probably 1400 pounds 12 to 1400 pounds what in the world what on planet Earth is gonna hurt them cows at that size nothing really if I put my dogs which are up in the kennel right now you haven't really seen them but if I put my German Shepherds out here those uh cows will kill my German Shepherd so the donkey is really here for protection of the young of the babies if we put a livestock Guardian dog out here I believe the cows would kill it I think that they would stomp it now if they were raised with the lgd do you think they would be okay or well I think it would be a useless futile matter in other words if you've got these animals are huge so we don't need to protect them with a with an animal that's a quarter or a sixteenth their size so if we had just sheep or goats absolutely and I did have a coyote get a goat when we first got here to the farm but uh Lessons Learned um with that we kept better fences for the goats and we didn't have any more problems with those issues and the German Shepherds helped protect them too this is sweetie all right she is right there she's heading this way sweetie you do you're gonna run cheap with cows I don't know if I am or not and I think if I do run sheep with cows I'll probably run them in uh behind the cows instead of running them right right but you get to the point where you're going to be a prisoner to your property and you just don't want to be a prisoner to your property so if I've got sheep and cows and chickens and pigs and everything then when Josh wants to go to the beach uh he can't go because nobody can watch all those animals hey sweetie this way girl you're very fortunate our neighbors watching all of our critters right now for us yep yep and if you've got if you've got Farm type folks around it's nice to have oh sweetie gets you cow lick there you go she's got to taste you make sure you're you're socially uh uh you just got invited to the Cowherd you see that of course yep yep that's it she's like I like you I don't know that's really curious so she's she's my sweetheart for sure now they say never rub a cow on the on the forehead because it encourages budding none of the young calves are are really nice right now but you if I can find Butthead we'll we'll show you what rubbing a cow on the forehead will do I don't think I think Butthead ran over that way anyway but Butthead if you rubber on her forehead she will butt and push back at you so yeah um so just like around they say nothing yeah because you'll and you'll encourage that so I forget that I'm so used to the dogs come up you know oh yeah yeah rub a dog on the head exactly well guys that's the cattle move this morning uh this is renewed Homestead we're gonna go tour the farm and they're gonna shoot a video here I've got a tractor trailer on the way with a wood splitter from Wolf Ridge coming and we've got Spectrum here and we've got another awesome live stream with another channel uh coming up tomorrow evening so check out the link in the on the Facebook Channel and I'll also post a link over on YouTube for that guys thank you all so much for watching I wanted to introduce you to some new friends of mine here in the social media world and in the homestead and Farm and Ranch World renewed Homestead guys check them out ready to start commercial grazing operation in the springs yep yep can't wait it's going to be awesome so thanks guys we'll see you next time on the Stony Ridge you guys know what we do at the end of the video right
