What happens here

Once the paver slab is correctly seated and level on the sand bed, the vacuum mechanism on the lifting machine is disengaged. This action releases the air-powered suction, allowing the machine to safely detach from the slab. A distinct sound often accompanies the release of the vacuum. After detaching, the workers lift the vacuum lifter clear of the newly placed paver and move it to the next uninstalled slab in the staging area, ready to repeat the entire process. This continuous cycle of picking up, transporting, placing, and releasing allows for efficient and systematic installation of the large paver slabs across the entire project area, significantly speeding up the construction of patios, walkways, or driveways.

Goal: Detach the lifter from the placed slab and prepare to install the next one.

Tools and materials

  • Large Concrete Paver Slab — The newly placed item, now detached from the lifter
  • Plate Compactor with Rubber Mat — To settle installed pavers evenly and firmly into the bedding sand
  • Vacuum Lifting Machine — To detach from the placed slab and move to the next slab
