Sanding Cabinets for Painting! Cabinet Painting Series Part One: Prepping Process!

What happens here

Begin by removing all doors and drawers from the vanity. Use a power drill for efficiency. As each door or drawer is removed, immediately label it on the back side using a permanent marker, indicating its position (e.g., 'upper left', 'middle drawer', 'upper right', 'lower drawer'). For drawer fronts that are attached to the drawer box with screws, remove the screws to detach the front piece. This allows for easier painting of both sides of the drawer front and simplifies organization.

Goal: Remove and identify all movable parts for painting.

Tools and materials

  • Permanent Marker — Labeling doors, drawers, and hinges
  • Power Drill — Removing screws from hinges and drawer fronts
  • Tool Belt — Keeping tools and markers easily accessible
