What happens here

Once a layer of aggregate is compacted, unroll the next layer of geogrid on top of it. Ensure it is again laid flat, taut, and properly positioned according to the design specifications. Then, repeat the process of applying limestone aggregate, spreading and leveling it, and finally compacting it. Continue these steps—laying geogrid, applying and compacting aggregate—until the desired height and stability of the embankment or retaining wall are achieved. The number of layers will depend on the overall height and design requirements of your specific project. Finish the top layer of the embankment according to the project's final design, which may include topsoil, vegetation, or other surface treatments.

Goal: Complete the multi-layered geogrid and limestone reinforcement

Tools and materials

  • Rake — Spreading and leveling aggregate
  • Skid Steer New Holland — Applying aggregate for subsequent layers
  • Vibratory Compactor — Compacting aggregate for subsequent layers
  • Geogrid — Reinforcing subsequent layers
  • Limestone Aggregate — Building up subsequent layers of the embankment
  • Topsoil — For finishing the top layer if vegetation is planned
