What happens here
With the wheel removed, thoroughly clean the wheel rim to remove any dirt, grime, and loose rust. Once clean and dry, begin masking the tire. Apply green masking tape (FrogTape brand is shown) along the edge of the rim where it meets the tire. Then, use a masking machine with kraft paper to cover the entire tire, ensuring no paint will reach the rubber. This protects the tire from overspray, creating a clean paint line.
