What happens here
After filling the geocell cells with gravel, the final step involves ensuring the surface is level and compacted. Use the bucket of the loader (if available) or a plate compactor to gently pass over the newly filled gravel, settling it into the cells and creating a firm, even surface. Ensure that the gravel is flush with or slightly above the top of the geocell grid. If necessary, add more gravel to any areas that appear low after compaction. The video ends before this final compaction is explicitly shown, but it's a critical part of the installation process.
Goal: Achieve a level, compacted, and stable gravel surface.
Tools and materials
- Plate Compactor — Compacting the gravel within the geocell cells
- Rake — Making final adjustments to gravel distribution
- Tracked Loader — Using the bucket to gently spread and level the gravel during initial compaction
- Gravel — To top off any areas that settle after initial compaction
