Regenerative farming? How? Why?
What happens here
The key to regenerative farming is avoiding tillage. Tillage, whether in organic or conventional settings, disrupts the biological material and microbes in the soil, effectively 'baking' and 'roasting' the beneficial organisms. This sterilization destroys the soil ecosystem. Instead of turning the soil, the practice should focus on promoting natural processes that build and protect the soil's structure and inhabitants. This also prevents the soil from being exposed directly to the sun and wind, which invites weeds and leads to erosion.
Goal: Avoid soil disturbance (tillage) to preserve and build the soil's microbial ecosystem.
