What happens here

This video demonstrates the use of a Milwaukee Fuel M18 battery-powered brush cutter to clear overgrown areas, including dog fennel, briars, and willow saplings, around a pond bank. The video highlights the features of the tool, its brush cutter blade, and the accompanying harness for extended use. The creator emphasizes the tool's effectiveness for woody brush compared to a string trimmer and explains why a handheld solution is preferred over a garden tractor for this specific task due to safety and terrain. It provides a review of the tool's performance and offers advice on its proper application.

look today on the Stony Ridge Farm we're cutting the brush with the Milwaukee yeah baby hey there folks this is Josh Stoney Ridge farmer welcome back to another gorgeous day hot day here on the Stoney Ridge Farm we have a little bit of a weed growth problem a brush growth problem on this pond dam and pond bank so we're gonna go along right here and we're going to trim all this up and we're going to be testing out and trying a new tool this is the Milwaukee fuel brush cutter slash string trimmer and how it's a brush cutter string trimmer is that right here is the brush cutter attachment it's got a safety guard on it right now and then over here is the string trimmer attachment so all you have to do is basically take the nut off remove that and screw on the string trimmer attachment or you can go back and forth vice versa we already have a string trimmer so I'm probably going to set this to the side but if you need a universal string trimmer slash brush cutter this is the Beast for you this is again the Milwaukee fuel version now I've got the huge Milwaukee high output 12.0 battery in it it takes virtually any 18 volt Milwaukee battery so all your Milwaukee batteries will work with this again this is a string trimmer slash brush cutter and I'm going to use it for the very first time today and see how it does Milwaukee they build every tool guy so this video is brought to you in part by our friends at Milwaukee tool so without further Ado let's show you what we've got here and we're going to get busy this is dog fennel and brush and Briars and all kinds of stuff let me show you folks welcome back to the Stoney Ridge Farm Channel if this is your first time here or your 50th time please consider subscribing to the channel I'd love to have you back all around us here is a 150 acre first generation Farm project and what I do is take you around and show you the tools that it takes to get the job done here on the farm and or show you some other cool stuff so this is a pond that I built about three years ago maybe four years ago and it's stocked with Channel cat catfish and lots of frogs and lots of salamanders lots of good ecosystem in here I've got the cows in this Paddock you can see the lands a little bit beat up I'm trying to landscape the banks of this Pond and the cows have done a fantastic job over here but they're not touching it over here because there's so many weeds in the way so we're going to clear this off let the cows come in here and put a little pressure on the land so that the embankment kind of slopes down and that way I can just mow it with the ventrac tractor instead of having to come out here and weed whack it we want to make it easy for us easy low maintenance so what we have here are several different types of weeds and this is the main culprit here on the pharmacist called dog fennel and if you look dog fennel is a woody stemmed leave you hear it kind of break off a woody stemmed weed and that's basically what's taken over we've got a couple Briars or brambles or blackberries over here and some saplings you never want a sapling growing on your pond down you don't want weeds growing up against your pond but this also makes great habitat for frogs and Wildlife too so if we walk on over here you'll see all the various little weeds that we need to get and we also have some little Willow saplings that have to be trimmed up and we're just going to go to it and show you guys what it does and after I get done I'll talk to you about what this tool will do and what it won't do so every tool has its own little nuances I want you to be an informed consumer so if you decide to buy this we're going to give it an honest review that was my deal with Milwaukee if you send it out I'm going to be honest here's a part of this tool that I failed to mention so it comes with a Milwaukee harness this harness is designed to make it easy to carry that heavy tool and it's not that heavy if you're only going to run it for about five minutes I'd say don't worry about this however this is an all-day tool for a pro guy that's what fuel means fuel means Pro so this is a little clip right here and this just kind of rides on your hips so it doesn't grind into you which is very important now we're going to take the guard off and I'll show you how fast this thing spins it has two different settings so only when you're about ready to use it should you slip this guard off just pops right off and we'll toss that back to the side by side and this is the blade itself okay that's it be careful guys this will cut you if you're working around trees or if you're working around electrical wires or anything like that I suggest that you do not use this okay because it will cut you it will cut wire or cut water hose it's pretty awesome it's pretty sharp we'll go ahead and tether to it you can adjust this infinitely for your height I'm six foot five and I had to adjust a few things out and down so we'll just clip in here right quick there we go now I don't have to carry it all I have to do is fly the plane the plane uh so here is the two speed setting now it's on it's in Turtle which is the slow speed and we'll pull the trigger there and this is hair that's the high speed we're going to run this thing in high speed first I think the first thing we want to tackle is right over here which would be the pond dam itself and it has a little sapling on there so let's just start on that end and work our way back towards you guys thank you [Music] that's the blade right there first impressions it's not a weed whacker okay it's not a weed whacker it is a brush trimmer I can really tell it's not cutting like a weed whacker it's cutting like a brush trimmer so in other words we're just chopping the debris and the brush it seems to be better to knock it off a little bit knock it off a little bit more and knock it off a little bit more in order to be totally successful with this Critter we're gonna point the camera back over this way and this is probably 200 yards we'll just go ahead and cruise right on through here for cutting grass it will cut grass but it's not the best cutting grass it's just not the best of the grass cutter this is a brush trimmer not a grass cutter so if you want to get done swap the head out and go back over it and cut the grass I suggest using the string trimmer here we go [Music] oh [Music] all right baby let's see how bad she wore not too bad a little bit or the new off wore the paint off so super cool man so let me tell you this thing is a beast of a trimmer you saw the progress right there it does have its limitation so anything that's much bigger than your pinky or about a half inch in diameter I would say it takes a little bit of time to work on that and you can see we worked on the blade just a little bit here the blade is sharpenable so we can sharpen that if you hit a rock you will damage this blade I would encourage anyone that buys this to go ahead and get an extra blade have it sharpened and you can flip this too so it's sharp and beveled on this side and on that side so that is the Milwaukee fuel brushless awesome string trimmer slash brush cutter combo guys I'm impressed with it you saw how quickly we did this made quick work of the job I can get in here with the ventrac mower now but getting close to a pond with the tractor is very very dangerous we want to make sure we do things safely and this is a safety measure so if you've got a spot in your yard or on your property that you need to get rid of some brush and debris this might be the answer folks I'll post a link to this down the video description I thank you all so very much for watching me here on the Stony Ridge Farm today please hit that like button subscribe the channel I'd love to have you back alright take care tooth don't taste very good still here we'll see you next time
