Implementing Permeable Paver Drainage System Around the Pool

PROJECT WALKTHROUGH: WHITE HAWK DRIVE (PaverPatio, WaterFeature, Lighting, Pergolas, PuttingGreen)
What happens here
An innovative drainage solution is implemented along the edge of the pool, where the concrete pool deck meets the paver patio. Instead of a traditional, visible trench drain, a strip of 'Town Hall Basalt' permeable pavers is installed. These pavers are designed with larger gaps between them and are filled with a permeable aggregate material (such as gravel or small crushed stone) instead of typical polymeric sand. This allows rainwater from the patio to freely travel through the permeable joints, infiltrating directly into the ground below. This system effectively manages surface water runoff, eliminates standing water, and maintains a clean, uninterrupted aesthetic around the pool deck, blending seamlessly with the rest of the patio design.
Goal: Provide effective and aesthetically integrated drainage for rainwater runoff.
Tools and materials
- Plate Compactor Wacker Neuson — Compacting base layers for permeable pavers
- Geotextile Fabric Mirafi — Separating soil from aggregate layers to prevent mixing and maintain permeability
- Permeable Aggregate — Filling the joints of the permeable pavers and for the open-graded base layers
