Evaluate and Apply Spot Primer

coat you know pretty easily so uh people are asking me do you prime the bondo before you spray in your top coat now typically we don't prime our bondo before spraying the top coat and because we always spray two coats and we're using really high-end top coats that cover extremely well even when they're white and so usually you're gonna see the bondo you know fairly easily after your first coat but after our second coat you usually never see the bondo anymore if you do a third go you're definitely not going to see the bondo so if you're trying to one coat it you probably should prime it because that's going to cover white primer is going to cover that red and then you're going to go over with your top coat and it's going to up cover in one coat but we're always doing two coats but even with some of the products out there we were just spraying some benjamin more advance two coats and i can still see the bondo in some cases because i had to spray it on really thin because it was cool and the product was running a little bit so you can prime it so you don't need to prime it because your top coat's going to bond to your bondo without a primer but the primer serves a purpose making it so your top coat hides better especially if you're doing white i do if i'm going to do any spot priming we've been spot priming here we're just going to be using a product bin this is bin shellac based primer right here it dries super fast and it covers super well and so we can top coat it extremely quick so it's just going to make it so it covers a little bit better so you can see i'm going to spray my it's just going to be a very light coat the shellac primer right here the bin it runs really easy so you want to stand back quite a bit when you're actually spraying that primer that's all i need to do if i was trying to one coat this now i could spray that one coat one super heavy coat if it's laying down especially and it's gonna cover it but once again we're typically two coats no we don't typically prime our bond our bondo but you can if you're concerned about coverage i know there are some um in the past i've used some really inexpensive inexpensive uh top coats like trim paints and stuff and you know they're just a lot of fillers don't have a lot of titanium in them and resins in them and they don't cover very well and this would be a case when you would really want to spot prime it otherwise you may have to three coat over your bondo so you can see i'm back pretty far just…
