What happens here

Once the composite piece is cut to size, carefully insert it into the diagonal gap in the existing decking. The video demonstrates using a specialized composite decking fastening tool (often a jig that holds the screw at the correct angle and depth) along with an impact driver and decking screws to secure the filler piece. Drive the screws through the pre-drilled holes, ensuring the piece sits flush and is firmly attached to the underlying deck structure.

Goal: Securely install the custom-cut composite piece into the deck gap.

Tools and materials

  • Decking Screws — Securing the composite filler piece
  • Existing Composite Decking — The main deck structure to which the filler is attached
  • Impact Driver DeWalt — Driving the decking screws
