POV: You overbuild a landing so much it just is actually a small patio 🤔

What happens here

With the main patio pavers laid, the next step is to install the border pavers that define the patio's perimeter. Two workers are shown collaborating: one uses a small trowel to carefully adjust the bedding material (typically screeded sand or fine gravel) to ensure a perfectly level and stable base for each border paver. The second worker then places the paver onto the prepared base and uses a rubber mallet to gently tap it down. This ensures each paver is properly seated, aligned with its neighbors, and at the correct height relative to the main patio surface. This process is repeated along the entire edge, creating a clean and finished border.

Goal: Create a finished edge for the patio

Tools and materials

  • Border Pavers — Creating the defined perimeter and edge of the patio
  • Rubber Mallet — Gently tapping pavers into place to ensure they are seated and level without causing damage
  • Safety Gloves — Protecting hands from abrasions, dirt, and repetitive contact with pavers
  • Trowel — Adjusting and leveling the bedding material beneath the pavers
  • Bedding Sand/Fine Gravel — Providing a level, stable, and permeable base for the pavers to rest upon
