Poly sanding the step. #paverpatio #pavers #hardscape
What happens here
For hard-to-reach areas, such as along edges, walls, or doorframes, use your hands to manually push and compact the polymeric sand into the joints. This ensures that even the tightest gaps are adequately filled. Once all joints are filled, lightly mist the entire surface with a garden hose set to a fine spray. This activates the polymers in the sand, causing it to harden and lock the pavers in place. Avoid using a strong stream of water, as this can wash out the sand from the joints.
Goal: Ensure complete joint filling and activate the polymeric sand.
Tools and materials
- Garden Hose with Spray Nozzle — Misting the polymeric sand to activate its polymers
- Leaf Blower — Removing excess sand dust from paver surfaces before wetting to prevent staining
