howdy folks this is Josh Stoney rich farmer welcome back to the farm today is going to be a fun day we're going to go pick up a tractor so we're helping out my dad just a little bit we're going to cruise down to his place it's about a half hour away we're gonna hook up the gooseneck trailer right now we're driving through the farm we're gonna go pick up an old Massey Ferguson industrial tractor and we're gonna hook that up so worked out a deal with tighten attachments and we're gonna be putting dad a quick attach bucket on his old raggedy tractor I hope it's in good enough shape to get it up on the trailer if not we're gonna have an adventure guys so come along let's have a little bit of fun on the farm we're gonna leave my farm go to my dad's place and load up his old tractor and bring it home we'll walk you around the tractor give you kind of a little bit of a tour and sitting right over here is the new quick attach to mount I might have to buy a new welder cuz it's got a well - a very thick piece of metal it's gonna be a good time let's have some fun [Music] all right we're on the road northbound and down we're headed to Martinsville Virginia we live right in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the edge of North Carolina and Virginia so dad lives at Virginia if you don't know dad if you haven't been on the channel guys I encourage you to jump in and subscribe the channel that's just a good time here dad is an old-timer I guess that really an old timer dad's about 67 years old 68 I think 67 67 years old and he's from the old days he's an interesting character [Music] that look raggedy and having a pocketful of money he's a pretty cool dude so we're gonna ride up to dad's house dad picked up this tractor and it's a old probably circa nineteen seventy eight or nine we'll look up all the specs and everything on it in fact I might just give you guys a serial number let you look it up if you want to but it's an industrial tractor Massey Ferguson I believe industrial tractor we have two of those on his farm one of which he's had since it was brand spanking new and I apologize it's bumpy this trailer will beat the teeth out of your head but anyway one of those were was brand spanking new and he ran up on a deal on this tractor so he bought it I'm pretty much thinking that we're gonna wind up with this tractor on our farm I'm not positive yet but I do want to set that up with a nice quick attach bucket so he can drop the bucket he can do his bush hog and he can hook the bucket back up and it won't be in the way and it'll just be easy for him so if he has other attachments he'd like to use he can do that that's it we're rolling cold at daddy's house [Music] alright boys girls we made it we're here dad said it had some kind of oil issue I'm not quite sure what that was all about but we'll talk to him a little bit about that what we're going to do here is drop the gates on our flatbed trailer right here if you missed that video there'll be a link right up there where we went and picked up our flatbed trailer a lot of folks really concerned about the metal being slicker than wood well around here it rains a whole lot we get a lot of like mossy stuff that grows on wood trailers wooden trailers wouldn't dect trailer so we opted to go with a steel trailer and this thing is in no way slick it's rough as it can be so when wood gets wet it's slick as snot and I nearly lost a tractor off a wood deck trailer one time so it's food for thought there guys we like our metal deck trailer let me know if you have an experience with a slick metal deck trailer guys I apologize about the breeze I won't take you over and show you dad's tractors this is kind of a fun tour of the tractors so this is what dad calls the wind is really whipping this is the David Brown tractor right here case David Brown tractor circa 1950s no 1965 circa 1965 dad's got a Fran's guard he's really into pullin lumber he's a lumber guy for Heuer right here and this is the 383 Massey Ferguson this was grandpa's tractor I think it's probably got somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 200 hours on it no hours on that tractor so this is the one that I grew up with this is the Massey Ferguson 20 C and the 20 C is an industrial tractor you see who's got a big old barrel full of cement in the back right here new tires on it it's a kick button little crack it's SuperDuper strong well when dad ran up on the deal on this guy over here we're gonna go over to it he had some guys paint it with a brush this not for me this is a 30 C so this is the 30 seat tractor let's get where the Sun isn't in my eyes and what we're trying to do here is we're gonna unmount this bucket system and we're gonna put a new bucket on here with a quick attach so he can drop the bucket and this is gonna be his Bush hoggin tractor pretty cool so let's get this thing loaded up I hope it starts up like you said it would while we're here and let me give you a little bit of history on me and the Stoney Ridge farm channel by the way if you're not subscribed to the channel it's free jump in subscribe click the bell icon it'll notify when we post a new video growing up this is where dad's and Mom's mobile home was so we lived in the mobile home until I was about two and a half or three years old and then dad and mom built the house down here they've since split up that was when I was about 13 I'm 42 now so no grudges held or anything like that but this is where I grew up so our mobile home was in 1966 I think it was a fifty something foot 1966 model Alcona and I grew up I'm gonna say poor but I grew up I never wanted for anything but we didn't never know any difference so our garden was right down here we had about an acre maybe two acre garden and we sell vegetables and stuff we always had hogs we had cows this is one of the old cow barns right here the eminent domain came to the farm and they built a water treatment plant on the other side of the farm so this was a three hundred and sixty something acre our minutes down to a hundred-acre set dad keeps up that's the story of the farm and there comes dad now that's a huge fan of pit bulls so there's this pit bull ready to go play with it get this tractor right tell me about these two tractors tell me about the history of the one you've got there and why you bought this other one I bought the other one because I love the one I had so much yeah so the 20c is an industrial tractor do you know what model that thing is round about I have no idea with fog in 19 and 89 or in their their gossip what you think it's older than that though innit I think I don't know for sure I think it may be a newer model okay cool and this one right here the 30 C you just bought what a couple months ago you know you know what year model this thing is around the same I guess one is older than the other okay I don't know which is which I think that the 20 C is older than the 30 C dad let's say both have Massey Ferguson Perkins diesel industrial traction right there they they have Perkins engine little three-cylinder Perkins yeah industrial tractors guys and they will pull their guts out right so that was the one reason I wanted to spare so that I could in case the one that you've been using for years yeah there's something to ever happen to yep then I would have one to standby cool let's fire it up and get her loaded up it [Applause] I kind of went off without a hitch I was expecting more fun so what the whole deal is here is that this bucket is worn you can see it used to have a bar mounted to the front of it that says that this thing digs in like basically when you lay it down it just tries to dig in deep you can see a few holes in the corner right here and some holes in the corner right there so lesson to everyone if you store your tractor with a bucket on it make sure your buckets tilt it down so that it doesn't hold water and cause pitting and cause your bucket to rust out that's what this whole thing is about fixing this bucket you're gonna see a whole lot of this tractor on the channel in the future this again is a Massey Ferguson 30 see let me give you in case all you guys are a real big on to figuring out what year models something is there's a tag here somewhere hold on let me find that VIN tag I just saw it I can't really tell I can't really read it oh there it goes get a little dirt in there so the VIN tag says Massey Ferguson MF 34 a and this may be for the loader system I don't think this thing came separate I think it came with the loader that MF 34 a and the VIN is 2 to 0-6 it looks like maybe an S right there 2 2 0 6 0 0 3 5 9 1 and then there is another VIN tag up here my dad's point - ok it's another VIN tag I'm gonna try it rub some spit on it there we go 9a 3 0 9 8 to 5 so 9a 3 0 9 8 to 5 that's the VIN tag on this critter so one of you gear heads tell me what year this tractor is you're gonna see it a lot on the farm vlog here in the next a little bit we're going to get it home today was nice I want to get with pops here while the weather was nice dad and I both suffer from something called back pain and dad recently had an experience with a little back surgery right yes OD so he's kind of getting over the back surgery anything to help out pops is a good time so fix his tractor up it'd be good good do you good deal guys thanks a lot for joining me here on the Stoney Ridge farm today I can't wait to show you this tractor in action I can't wait to change the bucket over and I hope I crossed my fingers then am I good enough welder to do a good job he's gotta make dad proud right there is no tractor that will pull like these little industrial tractors gotcha so if you run up on an industrial tractor like these 28 or 20 C or 30 C's dad says pick them up it might be a permanent structure on our farm we got to talk him out of it thanks a lot guys we'll see you next time on the Stoney Ridge farm channel be sure you found that like button jump in subscribe the channel and follow us on our journey fixing old tractors having fun working on the farm raising chickens just a good life see you next time
