PART 3: How to build a 2-tier retaining wall. #hardscape #retainingwall #howto

What happens here

Begin by installing the lower tier of the retaining wall. This involves preparing a proper footing, compacting the subgrade, and laying the initial courses of wall blocks. Ensure that a drainage pipe is installed at the base, surrounded by clean, free-draining backfill stone. A separation fabric (geotextile fabric) must be placed between the backfill stone and the native soil to prevent soil migration into the drainage layer. This backfill and fabric system helps to consolidate the wall and the surrounding earth into a single stable unit. This process of laying blocks, backfilling, and incorporating geogrid will be repeated for subsequent courses.

Goal: Establish a stable and well-drained lower retaining wall tier
