one more time there is truth to that you're the one that set it up this time so we'll wait and see if anybody's with us but you can kind of let people know they watch it late later what you're doing today i don't want to get anything on this vinyl so i'm using fraud tape um get closer if people want to hear dave is with us hi dave why you mad bra hi oh snap ryan's with us tank critter is with us thank you okay we did it see hi ron the third time is a charm yeah so you have vinyl windows they look the same color as the trim pretty close pretty close but i still don't want to get paint on them so i'm just putting frog tape on it and you can see it goes really fast thank you scott hi nathan it's kind of a guarantee i'm not going to get any paint on it because they are a little bit different color so tayden has so many questions hayden so let's see if you can answer some of them while he's painting he's multitasking somebody asked him earlier on facebook to paint with his left hand and so he did that he's an ammo dextrous painter i tried i can spray with my left hand best primer for cabinets does it depend on what the cabinets are made out of and what's on them it does um renner renner i think 1064 makes a really good primer runner 851 you don't need a primer itself climbing um he said you missed a spot i'm glad you're not done yet you're probably finding a lot of spots like this since the house isn't done yeah so what's the best way to get my foot in the door when it comes to local businesses um door hangers door hangers or local businesses yeah oh go to your local chamber commerce and start going to your chamber meetings go to your chamber meetings and i would say you you can send a newsletter you can mail you know welcome to the area i'm a local painter send a postcard in the mail oh it says i was contacted by homeadvisor today would you recommend going with them um you know i know some painters that actually like home advisor and i know a lot of painters that don't um you know they do there's a some that say that it's it's been really successful for them if they spend um three thousand dollars a month on advertising um the roi is pretty good but if you're going to spend 500 a month it's probably not going to be the best for you but that was never my strategy using those type of um you know things but you know some people use them effectively it just wasn't my thing ron thrall said no i know ron had an experience with them yeah i don't like um i've heard a lot of painters have a lot of bad experiences with um but then i did hear one painter um in colorado that was using it pretty successfully but he said they said he was spending three thousand dollars a month on him but he was getting a return on his investment so geez um randy says one versus two coats on exterior how many years will the paint last 10 years this house when you painted it when was the last time it was painted 15 years ago and it's fried so it was fried and how many coats do you put on it and right now you're doing the trim and you're masking and you're gonna pull the masker are you gonna pull the mask and then i'll come back and do the second coat after i pull the masking because inside here only takes one coat on this inside part what size cut in brush are you using i'm using a three inch three-inch premier riverdale angled sash and what is that copper thing that's on your brush somebody actually asked that or you asked i asked that oh here i thought somebody actually asked it um it's a um brush buddy right there i actually like the thing rush buddy it's made by painter so um kind of cool little device so um gosh what was somebody just asked why don't you spray the trim instead of brushing it the trim it's got really deep rough grain to it and it's very bumpy and you want to get good adhesion and penetration it's better to hand brush it than spray it it's going to last a lot longer if you hand brush it so garcia edwin says best roller for cabinets everyone says one fourth nap or foam uh i would never roll my cabinets but if i did i'd probably try a foam roller i sprayed my cup this guy said i like to paint the trim first and then i paint the siding does chris do that sometimes i always paint the siding first and then the trim second but you know what that's just the way i do it and you got to just decide what works for you um if it works better for you to do the trim first then you'll that's what you want to do um i just find it easier um to you know i just quickly mask off on here spray the body rip that off real fast because um i'm a one-man show and i don't want to leave masking up for a day and so i pull my mask in before i leave the house and for our audience one guy said you're sweating and last week it was cold and rainy in boise idaho and this week today it's supposed to be 95 degrees so no spring in boise yeah so some people are wondering what's taking me so long on this house well um it was raining for like a week and a half and the last time i checked you can't paint in the rain so do you always use water-based paints on internal and exterior trim always i've used water-based paints on houses for the last 20 years so i know in some countries like over the uk they still use oil-based paints on exteriors are there can you give reasons why not to use them um why you don't well i like uh environmental regulations you can't availability they're not available they dry a lot slower over spray is going to carry for a long ways with oil-based paints and that's scary i don't want to breathe them all day long so that's another reason a lot of reasons so so this person says do you face off your corner boards or cut around the edge face yeah it does look nicer extremely labor-intensive um in that but if a customer wants it we charge for it and it's going to take probably about 400 to do that so kevin says greetings from australia greetings from australia mate and it's friday pan says hola so joseph said they dry slower but they cure faster um yeah so he's not a whale-based expert so um he's probably correct but they're also more brittle and don't flex expand and contract like a water-based paint guys you can't get it um in the majority of the us um i haven't seen uh oil-based exterior paint in 15 years this guy said in spain we use a lot of solvent paint i hate the smell but the water base are very bad they don't come very they don't cover very well three to four hands to cover well so hopefully they start getting yeah definitely more brittle and definitely i don't flex and so friday i'm gonna get back to work and um if you have any questions or comments leave it down in the questions and comment section below i'm using a four inch roller i'm using a premiere three inch brush um and enjoy your week again have a good weekend i'm going up to the mountains i'm gonna go hang out in donley ride mountain bikes um and enjoy the cooler air in the mountains so um i say don't forget hey if now because if you don't if you subscribe don't hit the notification bell you'll never get notified i come out with a new video i got five videos coming out on painting this house how i go about the whole entire process of painting it so stay tuned for those videos so real fast somebody said mold we don't have mold problems here because of our climate right it's so dry here we don't have mold issues so you want what we're using in the u.s say we want water base they're safer better for the environment easier you ready to stay out i gotta get going it's friday i'm gonna clean up and get out of here go enjoy my weekend you guys enjoy your weekend
