What happens here

Once the edges are cut in, use a small paint roller to apply an even coat of paint to the main, flat surface of the stair riser. Roll the paint smoothly and consistently, ensuring full coverage without applying too much pressure, which could cause paint to seep under the tape. Reload the roller as needed from the paint bucket.
