so we're stopping by paint life supply code to get some of the necessary prepping supplies we're gonna be using on the job site today how you doing today maddie what can i help you with today chris i'm just gonna grab a few uh prepping supplies so we're gonna be doing some exterior painting today so i'm gonna be grabbing some frog tape production tape and frog tape green to be doing the masking so today we're gonna be doing some exterior spraying so i'm gonna grab a tyvek suit so today we're exterior painting so i'm grabbing a riverdale brush [Music] all right luke we're out here we got um our house all prepped we power washed it did the prep work we're doing the painting we started doing the painting but uh we're gonna start walking um through them to give you some pointers what we got to do to get ready to spray the body and complete this house we just started doing the accent color you know just for video purposes but some things we already got the downspout down here we'll just walk around and i'll just point out you know some of the things that we need to do downspouts got to come down definitely want to number your downspouts if you don't number them it's going to be a big mess trying to figure out where they go getting them back up we're going to um anytime we got um electrical outlets we're going to want to mask those things off unless they've been painted that one's already been painted so we're gonna paint it to um you know match the house we'll when we start spraying the body we're gonna mask off our windows so we're gonna be uh painting front doors we're gonna take the front doors off today we're gonna spray the front doors so that they've got to come off um come off we're going to mass hardware off um light fixtures we typically always remove light fixtures so we're going to want to take those down one screw those things are going to come off um mask windows any type of the footings down here we typically don't ever paint footings but the footings have already been painted before so we'll have to decide whether we want to paint them gray to look like footings or paint them to match the house they would end up being white i think they'll stand out really bad if we do them white because the body's going to be white so i think we'll do them gray and um and so that's the the concrete footings right here i like them to look like concrete footings like we didn't make a mistake and painted them gray uh the rock right here the rock was painted multiple times typically we don't paint rock but we stain rock this has been painted and so we went over the top of that with a paint and looks a lot better now so we started that process right now over here gutters the gutters have been painted if they've been painted before we don't have to prime them the product we use is um is a perfect product that doesn't need a primer if they're brand new gutters or their gutters factory finish they do need to be primed first so we have to spray them we do need to take a mailboxes off so i think there is a mailbox that one has already been removed we need to take this mailbox off um we've already moved doorbells removed doorbell we're gonna remove the lights here uh concrete steps footings walkways we're typically to want to drop a drop cloth down to protect that so we don't get any overspray you know on that we've got a fence where it meets the house um it's very critical that you know we we mask this off mask it off properly so we don't get any overspray you know on the fence you know if you're uncomfortable spraying you'll put um i usually just use one nine inch row of paper on there so um pull weeds and um grass dirt back so this was actually painted we're taking it all the way down to the ground so we can shield to the ground right here um that's the front of the house everything that we need to do to get ready um if you got any water faucets i think there's a water faucet you've already masked over here which is a good job we never want to get over spray on water faucets so so there was a water faucet right here i always want to mask those things off and mask off having nice crisp clean lines so walk around back take a look at the back what we need to do to get this ready so we got downspouts we're going to want to pull the downspout off because we always want to paint behind downspouts we're going to mask these windows um today we're going to be spraying um this gable in right here our accent color black we're going to want to get the grass away from the footings right here because we're taking our white all the way down to the ground on this side we definitely want to mask off um the faucet don't want to get over spraying the faucet uh these downspouts these gutters factory black we're painting black so we're not gonna paint the gutter itself but we are gonna paint the down downspout so we want it to be pure white to match the house so we'll pull those off down here going to be masking windows off this right here previous people painted this stuff to match the house typically we never paint these things um they're usually gray but now that they have been painted we'll either paint them gray or paint them white again to match the house we always the the vents right here we always paint those the match um right here wires wires we don't pull wires away we leave them paint them to match the house i'm same with the piping this electrical box we definitely want to mask this one off we don't want to paint this electrical box it's a weatherproof electrical box so we'll mask it right around here the piping we'll paint the piping um we're going to spray underneath here so we need to put drop cloths you know down here because we're going to be painting pure white and white on this concrete would show up really bad so we're going to throw some drop gloss down we'll be painting this door this door will probably just spray um we're probably gonna have to take that one off and spray it gotta remove lights it's getting down spouts um got electrical so this is electrical over here so the electrical boxes we typically want these to match the house somebody's already painted them before we always paint them they don't need to be primed we do want to mask covers off that can't um that can't be painted remove downspouts we're not painting the black gutters because we're painting blocks same around here we just got an air conditioner over here we just got to put a drop cloth on and that's it we're going to cover this will be nine inch paper along here to mask along the footing and walkway right here so we can get paint down in this gap so we can spray down there to match um the stucco because it goes all the way down and that's um that's what we got to do and um we're going to continue working with our black you know accent color that we need to spray we're going to come back tomorrow spray body and start hand rolling trim makes sense makes sense any questions oh let's get after it there's a few um final prep um we got to caulk this seam down here looks like we can definitely be getting bugs and stuff getting into the house right there i know there's a problem with ants um and millipedes getting in the house that could be we cocked it on this side so we definitely want to finish that the gable up there before we spray the gable we've got some finished caulking we're gonna do with that we are gonna spray the um we're going to paint the the stain the chimney to match black too so that's going to go black so i'll be a stain instead of um you know that right there it's never been painted or stained before ideally it's best to be stained so with a solid color stain um it'll last longer these roof jacks we typically will paint these things black you'll say they kind of go away disappear we got overspray from the previous painters on those we'll spray these things black going all the way up they'll look a lot nicer the other roof jacks are damaged we gotta put new ones on so we'll do that looks like we're ready to go to continue on [Music] why are painting keeping me [Music] me
