Test and Inspect the Breakaway System

What happens here

After all components are installed, perform a functional test. With the trailer connected to the tow vehicle (but not necessarily running the vehicle), manually pull the pin from the breakaway switch. You should hear the trailer brakes engage (a low hum or click from the brake drums/actuator). If the brakes engage, the system is working correctly. Reinsert the pin firmly into the switch. Ensure the coiled cable allows full range of motion for turns without activating the brakes prematurely and that the safety cable is secure. Regularly inspect all connections for wear or damage before each towing trip.

Goal: Verify proper operation of the breakaway kit and perform final safety checks.
