What happens here
Using an impact driver, the presenter demonstrates the efficiency of the Rodman Drill & Tool combo bit. He securely attaches the bit to the impact driver and then positions it on a thick, perforated metal plate. With a firm grip and wearing work gloves, he activates the driver. The bit rapidly drills through the metal to create a pilot hole, and then seamlessly transitions to tapping the threads within the same operation, producing a clean, ready-to-use threaded hole without needing to switch tools. Metal shavings are visible as the drilling and tapping occur.
Goal: Demonstrate the efficient creation of a threaded hole in metal using the combo bit and an impact driver.
Tools and materials
- Impact Driver Milwaukee — Powering the drill/tap bit to drill and tap into metal
- Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from metal shavings and debris
- Work Gloves RW — Protecting hands during drilling and handling metal
- Perforated Metal Plate — The material into which the hole is drilled and tapped
