What happens here

Attach the configured digital torque adapter to a standard 1/2" drive ratchet. Then, select the correct size socket for your fastener and attach it to the adapter. Place the socket squarely onto the fastener (e.g., a bolt on a Bilstein suspension component, as seen in the video). Apply steady, consistent force to the ratchet handle. As you tighten, the digital display on the adapter will show the real-time torque being applied. The adapter provides both visual cues (red LED lights that illuminate as you approach the target torque) and audible beeps. The beeping will intensify as you get closer to the preset torque and will become a continuous tone once the exact target torque is achieved. Stop applying force immediately when the continuous tone sounds to avoid over-tightening. The video shows two instances of this in action (0:00-0:02 and 0:13-0:15), demonstrating how it signals when the target torque (e.g., 111 ft-lbs) is reached.

Goal: Tighten a fastener to the pre-set torque value with accuracy.

Tools and materials

  • 1/2" Drive Ratchet Unspecified — Providing leverage to turn the fastener
  • Fastener Unspecified — The component to be tightened (e.g., a bolt)
  • Quinn 1/2" Digital Torque Adapter Quinn — Measuring and indicating precise torque
  • Socket Unspecified — Engaging with the fastener head
  • Suspension Component Bilstein — The part where the fastener is being tightened (e.g., a shock absorber mount)
