What happens here
Once the area for the patio has been fully excavated and graded, it is crucial to compact the underlying soil to prevent future sinking. This is achieved by using a large, reversible plate compactor. Operate the plate compactor by walking behind it and guiding it in a systematic pattern across the entire excavated area. The machine vibrates powerfully, pressing down and consolidating the soil particles beneath it. Ensure overlapping passes to achieve uniform compaction across the entire surface. This compaction process removes air pockets and stabilizes the soil, creating a solid foundation for the subsequent patio base layers.
Goal: Achieve a uniformly compacted and stable soil base
