(3,607 characters)hey folks that fix the guy here and today we're going to be talking about freeze protection for your hose bibs this hose bib in particular is actually a frost-free hose bib which means that the washer for this actually sets deeper in the wall it doesn't set right up here close right here that way whenever you go to shut this off water will just drain out and the actual water is stopped back inside the wall where it's warm well in a lot of southern states they don't have these there's no need to install them there's no need to spend the money because quite honestly they're a lot more expensive than a regular hose bit so what do you do for that instance well so i'm kind of the type of dude that will double protect all right i like to make sure that things are hooked up so i've actually bought these covers right here for my hose bib all right so these you can tell they're a little bit more solid than some of the other ones you can find that are just that styrofoam insulation like a cooler these actually have a hard shell to them they have a foam blocker that kind of sets right up against the the wall you can pull it tight with this and these are awesome it just has a little plastic rubber piece that kind of goes over this to lock it in place you just take this pull that tight and then one of these little jobbies you know kind of like on an old track suit just goes up there holds that in place that allows that to stay covered well what happens when you go to the store and they don't have these or amazon's backordered with them right i mean i'll put some links in the description box below for some of these things that i'm using but right now with a lot of the weather going on these are definitely a high commodity like there's a good chance that a lot of stores aren't going to have these you can't find one of these outside faucet protectors grab a pair of socks preferably clean socks okay and just tape one of the socks and you can easily fold it in one two or three depending on how big the sock is right these socks happen to be so long that i could fold this in three and that means that's gonna be triple insulation at this point that's all we're looking at is more insulation all right and so just take that put that over that bam right there you are looking at quality insulation then i just take a bag right so i have here a quart freezer bag and freezer bags are going to be typically just a little bit thicker you could take a grocery sack you know one of the plastic ones anything plastic i mean you could probably wrap this in saran wrap if you wanted to but then i just slapped this over there this is just it's just easy right grab a rubber band if you don't have a rubber band grab a zip tie all right um take a rubber band or take a zip tie or take a bungee cord or anything you can grab and just get that over there and that's gonna be good to go now all of a sudden this is insulated and it's weatherproof and this is stuff you have around your house all right and if you don't have any of those things well grab some duct tape i mean just a thing of duct tape oh man i screwed that up just grab some duct tape and make sure that it's not all wonky and then just take that and you can just duct tape it on there right and so there bam like you're hooked up now you've got some quality freeze protection going on for your outside faucet i really hope you guys enjoy the video if you can please subscribe to the channel click the like button we're just trying to help people out and i hope that we're doing that thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
