What happens here

This video details a complex demolition and site preparation project involving the removal of concrete slabs and the remediation of a swimming pool that was improperly backfilled by a previous contractor. The process covers precision cutting of concrete, breaking it into manageable pieces with an excavator and hydraulic grapple, and efficiently loading both concrete debris and unsuitable buried materials (such as a pool cover and organic soil) into dump trucks using a skid steer loader. The video emphasizes proper techniques for handling various types of demolition waste and ensuring a stable, suitable fill for future use.

We've got some big chunks of concrete to pop out, but before we can do that, we've got to cut the line between the concrete that goes and the concrete that stays. We're going to do that right now. A piece like that is too big to safely load, handle, or even get through the gate. So, we've got to break it down into smaller bite-size chunks. Once we get the concrete broken down into manageable bite-size chunks, we then stack it up like cordwood or like flapjacks on a plate. The reason we do that is this will then let us take a skid loader with a set of forks and come underneath and pick up three or four pieces at a time. If you guys are just tuning in, the backstory is we had gotten called out to this job site after another contractor had started the project. He was supposed to do a pretty simple straightforward pool removal and then restore the backyard, but instead this guy totally sabotaged this job site. I don't know why, but you're going to see in just a minute. He buried debris that he had to work harder to hide than if he would have just taken it out in the first place. This contractor sacked the blinch hole and it's our job to clean it up today. So far it become pretty obvious that nothing was hauled off of this site and everything was buried. Uh trying to muck out the black dirt and I even found looks to be what uh the pool cover. The roll up pool cover, that looks like. It is. I wonder what else is in here, man. Oh yeah, we're going to find some good stuff. treasure. Yeah. That kind of look like the That kind of look like the Loch Ness Monster right there. Oh, it does. That's pool art, man. Pool art. Having this Having the X-Gator with that CMP attachment out here is saving us days worth of work. All right. What else we going to find? Yeah, we did that now. We got all that stuff cleaned up over there. They left quite a bit of nasty stuff here. Yeah, they did. That fill That fill is junk, too. That fill alone is unsuitable fill soil. There's You can't compact that. I don't know what the plan was here, but it would have been a big sinkhole. That's a skimp-scape move. Or something, cuz you can't you know, I know some cities you can break up little chunks of concrete and throw them in as long as they're under 8 in, which takes a super long time to break everything up into little chunks. Faster to just take it out in slabs. And it's better. Yeah. Let's say you want to put a house here or put a put an addition here someday and then you dig down and you find nothing but a bunch of little chunks of concrete that you got to get rid of and Or you Or you get a you get a pond when all that organic matter settles and breaks down. Oh, that would have never packed up. This is No. The original goal was to attempt to reuse some of this black organic I don't know what you would call this soil. Will you guys tell me what you'd call it down below? Where I grew up we call it loon dirt. Literally, that was the name of it. It's not suitable for anything. So, it's got to be exported out, and it can't even be incorporated into the top layer cuz it's just too unstable. All right, guys. That's our video for today. We were supposed to be loading and hauling trucks, but when we found more buried garbage in the quarry, it kind of set us on a different path. So, on the next video in this series, we're going to be taking you through the loading hauling process, how we fill up the pool bottom, and what we do from that point. That's all we got for you today. God bless you guys. Go get them, and we'll see you on the next one. Hit that subscribe button, and do me a favor, you guys. Check out the two videos I'm going to pop up here below. See you next time, guys.
