What happens here

Construct temporary electric fences to create small, manageable paddocks around the central watering locations. Use polywire (or polybraid) and step-in posts, which are easy to install and move. The video demonstrates setting up these fences, with four posts driven around each waterer. The polywire is then connected to a solar charger (not shown as present, but implied for connection). This electrification ensures cattle respect the temporary boundaries, allowing them to graze a small area intensely before being moved to the next paddock. This method enables precise control over grazing intensity and recovery time for the pastures.

Goal: Create temporary, movable paddocks for controlled, rotational grazing.

Tools and materials

  • Polywire — Creating the electric fence line
  • Solar Fence Charger — Electrifying the polywire to contain cattle
  • Step-in Posts — Supporting the polywire and delineating paddock boundaries
  • Strain Right Handles — Connecting and tensioning polywire, and making gate handles
