What happens here
This comprehensive DIY project guides viewers through building a robust and private fence. It encompasses digging trenches and post holes with heavy machinery, setting large treated timber posts in concrete, installing multiple layers of privacy materials (geotextile fabric and wire mesh), adding horizontal rails, and finishing with backfilling and final grading. The project also highlights considerations for local regulations and neighbor relations.

(9,302 characters)somebody told me yelling across the street saying uh Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley I just said Stanley's not here I'm seeing she goes do you know this uh fence if there's a limit to the height of this fence and I said no I'm just doing what I was told to do it's a big privacy fence that's all it is I'm Brandon from Top Notch equipment I'm the head mechanic okay okay there you go all right you guys I'm staying the dirt monkey welcome to the channel and today we got a new adventure starting we uh and what the new adventure means we've got to get some new equipment as well so we've got a brand new loader that nobody's seen before right yeah okay so this is the cast so it's it's not the fact that you haven't seen the cast loader the cast loader I'm gonna jump in here and say I love my cast logger but this is what I've never seen before and nobody else has because there's only six of them so far in the states right yep okay so tell me about it will you Brandon uh this is the cast Genesis got a 25 horsepower Yanmar um weighs about 2 800 pounds uh it's got a tip in weight of 1500 pounds lifting capacity um and yeah I mean that's pretty much oh yeah so that Yanmar engine we were sitting in the shop and we were all just BS and before the camera ever went on and every single person in the shop was telling me that that Yanmar engine starts better than anything else that you have anywhere on the lot it seems that this thing at like you can go pop right off that's because it's got an electric yep instead of like the kubota's they got a mechanical fuel pump so you kind of got to crank it to get the fuel pressure to build 11 foot what's the how much will it lift 1500 pounds now another good thing about this motor is this is uh the most economical one that they carry right yep it's like my cast order came in at 57 Grand yep right this one which is just a slight bit smaller is 37 Grand yup that's a huge that's like almost 40 percent cheaper maybe like 35 38 percent and do the math for me cheaper than my loader is but it's also missing a few of those bells and this is it guys may find critical but some guys may not want brand new machine six of them here Top Notch equipment well how do guys reach you if they want to find one and there's probably going to be a discount if you say my name I'm not joking because there used to be one so maybe there still will be one but how do you guys find Top Notch equipment oh you can either come in Monday through Friday eight to five uh the address is 14490 Northdale Boulevard Rogers Minnesota or you can give us a call at 763-398-0079 thank you sir yep now I get to go out and play with this in the dirt let's go there now [Music] foreign [Music] that I live on Was An Old Farm Way Back in the Day in fact I still have the original Barn I've got the footings from many of the out buildings that were on the property and I did have an old vent that outlines the property but it was in rough shape and it wasn't certainly anybody any good it had grown through some of the trees and the brush had overtaken it and pretty much was useless for all practical purposes so the new fence that we're rebuilding is going to be made out of the best kind of materials and we're going to be burying it two foot underground I call this cheating we're marking the bottoms at four feet because that's what we want to bury then we're going to grab them with the excavator and Hike them over because they're 14 foot 6 by 6 green treated Timbers that are wet and uh I don't feel like carrying them [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] so here's what we got going on we want complete privacy there without anyone being able to peek through so we've got this privacy screen two layers of it and then on top of that we still found that you could look through it if you put your eye right up to it you can see what's going on so then we put Bolder fabric over the top of that and then to keep my critters from digging because German Shepherds like to dig we brought two layers of fencing down so we got a heavy duty layer of fencing and we're curling that up and then on the top of that we've got a smaller layer so the claws can't get through and rip that fabric out because I really don't want to have that fabric ripped up because I want a really polished look from the outside so we use 6x6 post 14 foot tall we varied four feet of them poured 120 pounds of concrete in each the bottom of each post we're using four by fours and they're cross members all green treated structural ground rated Timbers ground rated means per you can it's rated to have contact with the ground well here they are right here so this is our stack of lumber so let's get on to the next phase back fill in this mess [Music] so I wanted complete privacy just the ability to shut the world out but I also wanted to be very respectful of what my neighbors had to see so I really wanted to polish the outside of the fence first and foremost and make sure that I wasn't making any waves and then one of the neighbors came over and had some very valid concerns and that altered my plans but here you go you can hear it for yourself I just said Stanley's not here and she goes do you know this fence there's a limit to the height of this fence a surprise it's a big privacy fence that's all it is it's just heavy we're just doing it heavy duty not an industrial area I just work here they don't see when I'm just married so when I went and told him that I had talked to you guys about it he's I said are you okay with that and he said with what the high walls he said yeah he said I don't care just let him do whatever he wants to do when it's the stops and that's so I'm sorry I interrupted and if you guys called Stan on this just today all right and she goes I think there's a city ordinance or something about the height of this fence she said that about three times and I just I just been working on the fence because of that you know of the lady I don't want to feel like I'm living in a cage yeah so we took the fence we were gonna go at 10 foot 10 foot yep down to six down to six so here we were thinking 150 feet Tony it's like 190. I know so we didn't get enough of that uh you only got 150. oh the the black mesh yeah oh great remember she wrote we were always thinking 150 150 yeah because this one's used that's how good we measure we just stepped it off measurements hey we're excavators we if we get within a couple inches here or there that always counts so we're only 40 feet off on 150 foot fence come on yeah so we're dropping the fence down to six foot and we gotta figure out some way to keep privacy and eyeballs that we don't want looking into the compound out this Boulder is too big for this excavator but we'll see what we can do I just gotta move it the same way I move one of my couches one end at a time two phase two so we're gonna go from here over Frankie's got all the lines marked out right yep so we're gonna do this side different we're just going to pop the holes and then I'm going to come back after the fact of an excavate popping holes I'll hop in the kitty cat and we'll get some holes popped [Music] we could have carried these posts down on the first row they were too wet oh I know it they were froze I mean they were like legit froze together I think they weighed four or 500 pounds each these actually are just like normal pools two bags each two bags per hole Zach why don't you go grab the rest of the bags I'll help Frankie get these poles leveled so we're leveling them all right put anything on there no I mean for pressure try to push them in down like we did before that helps it gives it a solid bottom yep then I'll do it I'll get the excavator and we'll do we'll get that all right [Music] ER you want to explain the method to your Madness with your string line for me here these are our corners but I hope this thing line onto it now I want to keep all our faces you know out to the string line plum and then uh this over straight we'll be we'll be straight so our next cuts are always our in between cuts at four by fours will be a 290 then okay except for the corners they'll be off but otherwise otherwise you got to cut everyone yep different if you give them Twisted this way we're getting our fence straight and it doesn't look like a snake yep and then all we gotta do is get them come Plumb to the line touch them and we're good to go yep yeah that's what the line do our Corners first so we can run something to run our streamlines yep so boom boom boom those are done now we do the underground [Music] well the new fence is up it's not as tall as I'd like but it's as tall as the neighbors would can tolerate which is cool it's great to compromise trying to get along with the people that I live around you know what that always makes life easier I hope you guys can do that as well wherever you are sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge and you gotta bite your lip and sometimes you learn to see the other person's side that's just the way it goes but I hope whatever you're doing you learn to overcome whatever obstacles you may face and you come to a nice happy medium place that's all we've got for you on this one God bless you guys go get them and we will catch you guys on another one see you later guys
