John Deere working Woods Precision Super Seeder...Over seeding fall pastures
What happens here
Observe the underside of the seeder to understand its mechanical operation. The front features spiked rollers designed to rip up the soil, creating shallow furrows. As the seeder moves, its ground-driven wheels mechanically turn gears inside the seed boxes, dropping the appropriate amount of seed through tubes. The clover seeds are broadcast from the rear of the seeder, hitting a metal plate to spread them. Finally, a heavy cultipacker roller at the very rear packs the seed into the prepared soil, ensuring good seed-to-soil contact for germination. A lever allows adjustment of the spiked rollers' aggressiveness.
Goal: Understand how the seeder prepares soil, dispenses seed, and packs it.
