this now that's totally your event is starting we're live we're live we're late because what a mess it's obvious it's it's all good a little bit stressful cos get all these monitors everywhere and new computers new systems and I don't know how this is looking because we've got Macs and PCs and they communicate I don't know I mean hopefully we can get some response back from some people and is this thing working is this setup and all these crazy monitors all over the place working I just saw on Morales drywall Julio um I guess we get to meet you in about a week and a half and if anybody else wants to come meet us that where can they find us I can't wait to meet Morales I seem like I keep seeing his shirts and stopping CNN palm it's gonna be kind of cool well I squash painting says what's up so but where are we gonna be in a week and a half and we're gonna be in Galveston Texas and hanging out at the painting Expo so and what is tonight's topic tonight's topic is is it painting a room upgrade is it safe is it safe to paint a room while being pregnant and this is an interesting question and John we're doing some research on some tops except and John asked that and posed that question and I'm like hey that's a good question and this is a great topic to talk about so we're talking about it seems so excited about the dominic and well so is it I mean you researched it I did a small amount of research and it looks like we have miss Susan from me animals are angels and so we're so glad she's with us yeah and I think she is a nurse and so would like to know your opinion is it safe to paint while you're pregnant if you have any input on the subject just let us now on whether you think it's safe and while painting while you're pregnant yeah and and to actually expand on that top when is it safe to bring a baby back in the room after the painters have painted and to spend the night in his crib I mean that's a good question right yeah have you do you have an answer for that um yeah my kids are kind of normal and I used to paint the rooms all the time and we just I mean they would be sleeping in there and I'd be painting my round and room service announcement is really right dude do not eat Tide Pods yeah or eat paint and especially eating paint that was like pretty like 1973 if anybody knows the exact date when was the limit I said 78 78 because there used to be led in the paint so that was very bad yeah so I mean I guess from the research that I saw is that you know if it's older 1978 and there's lead-based paint and yours doing sanding and prepping not a good idea but the newer paints low VOCs no boc water-based you know they have some chemicals and solvents in them but not as many and so they have a lot of suggestions like you know if you are gonna do it make sure you have good ventilation in the room you know wear a respirator wear gloves they said don't eat in the room when you're painting so do you do that I'd eat all the time one beaten inside the rooms but I mean yeah so um some of its common sense some of its you know doing the research what's interesting is there's not a lot of research on this subject and not a lot of hard data and hard facts on the subject but what is really cool nowadays it's I see you squint your eyes over there reading I was reading something sorry so what is so the camera it looks like it's focused that way and then that's there so it'd be nice to have the feet on that side how about if I do it like that does that make it better for you a little bit more if you want it completely over on this side see where this is all new to us because we're trying to become like nice now I'm looking more at you so can you read everybody's stuff now I can I can I got new contacts you did yeah em senses I did and because we're getting old and so I need bifocals so I look old on the soccer field last night oh you make torn up no I didn't tear it up but I live I finish did you score any goals I finished did you score any goals did I touch the ball great some good defense so I don't know I'm we're alive ammo on peace and I think that is s so back on the back on the subject about it you know is it safe us you know what's nice nowadays they have paints that are extremely safe so environmental right regulate environmental regulations EPA regulations which in California they're extremely stringent those epa regulations are spreading everywhere even here in Idaho on the standards what we're starting to meet the standards that you have to meet in California and so that the paint companies what they're doing is is they're being forced to eliminate VOCs out of paint and those are the volatile organic compounds and those kind of things like on the paint thinners the lacquer thinners are formaldehydes these chemicals that go into paint that I'll make paints dry faster and make them perform better there happened to eliminate a lot of that stuff out of the paints and those are the things that when you're breathing them it's not even good for us as healthy people to breathe them but if you're pregnant you're breathing it and then you're also breathing for you know another person inside you and then I'm a person that's a very delicate and so you know it's I guess it seems like common sense that you know you wouldn't want to be breathing that kind of stuff so you know back in you know years back when the paints inmates actually performed better and stuff there they're really starting to develop better paints with no VOCs but sure Williams has a paint that I know it's called harmony no VOCs no odor and no VOCs and then they even got a paint that actually cleans the air and it eliminates some I can't remember what some of the sudden John might be John and I think jack is on yeah we got journeyman John and Zach apprenticeship zach is on so they're answering questions too on the computer you don't see him they're here in spirit they're back they're back in their homes answering questions Neil Dawson said I just asked my wife she's orange she said inhaling painting is dangerous for babies so obviously like there's not a lot of data out there because they're not gonna put pregnant women in with chemicals and see if it causes miscarriages or birth defects and so I mean but you want you don't want to you want to be better safe than sorry but they it's it's interesting because I mean some people will say you know it's dangerous and I think we can all we would all agree that potentially yeah it's dangerous but then you got to understand I mean the paints now I mean is it dangerous to be pregnant and be in the room or painting with harmony when which harmony has no VOCs and and no odors so I mean it wouldn't be good to spray lacquer you know if you're pregnant that's obviously would be probably dangerous but if you were using harmony even though it has no VOCs and no odor should you still wear a respirator you probably should it probably would be good and um you know and then the next question is is how long after so if you're using a paint that did have that would say like low vo see there's a lot of paints now are low VOCs and in in those VOCs are actually coming off the paint as it dries and so what at what point in time is the paint dry and no feelsies coming I have a mission I saw Stuart from um New Zealand with us so thanks for being with us but you know in other countries I mean I remember when we're in the UK they do use a lot of oils and stuff still they say oh so they still do use oil-based paints over there so yeah it depends on it depends on the country you're in the paints are using here where we live the paint's right on the paint cans it specifically is labeled and it tells you like VLC contents and stuff like that and so you want to be aware just regular oil-based paints you know they have paint thinner in them and and that's how they're thinned and stuff and so the paint thinner flashing off is adding to the VOCs but in to here where we are now to eliminate oil-based paints they've gone to oil modified paints which are water-based paints water-based clean ups and so that's lower to VOCs you're getting paints that act just like oil-based paints with lower VOCs so if you're pregnant you know I would be looking to the paint manufacturer you know going in there and or if your prey if you're pregnant and you're having somebody paint your house ask the painters you know do you use a low POC or no VLC paint I think if you're pregnant I would want on the painters to a request them to use novio sea paints ask them specifically what they're using cheaper paints the cheaper the quality the pain typically the more VOCs right in the way Stewart says we use them so um you know I think that's the thing is some countries are have more oil still and I mean they're pretty obsolete right it's getting there ya know like um over in the UK I know they they're like the holy thing over there and stuff they're getting extremely environmentally conscience and stop and I mean every country is different I'm they're getting very hard over here with the paint companies and making everything you know no VOCs and stuff but and you said no such thing as a zero vo C because there's what does vo C stands for volatile organic compounds yes even in those there is some stuff right well there's um I mean that's volatile organic compounds so they're they're using you know different things to to lower those I know I know harmony is label novio see so I mean what is I mean what is the definition of no in a pain when you um that's something we're gonna be doing some research John and I are gonna be researching more on this subject this is something that just came up today and we wanted to talk about it but we're gonna have a show where we've really researched it and come out with more hard facts but is no does that mean literally the zero number or is it a number that's low enough to be considered no I think Andrew would be it sounds like you know they're not an engineer isn't he kind of a smart person I think so so that would be a conversation maybe there might be Mike would be yes molecule Mike yeah he would be a good one to ask so we have a brother that's kind of a crazy engineer molecule DNA test or tab guy yeah he's DNA sequencer well we were planning on going down there and like looking under the microscope at paint and talking about the qualities and making videos and we're going to but now we're going to Texas this month so we're not going to California this month but anyways I just saw that um Cheryl wanted to know what's your favorite Shawn Williams paint for indoor um by far so we've been testing a lot of paints and we like I mean we've been testing a lot of paints across the board from paint companies and then of course Sherri Williams is the most easily accessible paint and got the most white wide variety of paint you'll hear and so we've had the opportunity to test a lot of them cashmere is by far our favorite right now through all the testing we've done we like cashmere than the boss and we're using it quite a bit right now cashmere is an excellent paint not novio see but that's a low vo see paint so Steve Jubilee on all said who won the paint life indoor soccer key question and I'm a defender yeah we didn't win high school good kids and were not this only 50 watt and we're playing with 20 year olds so so they kind of like Han to us last night yeah they did but we walked down there so that was success for me I think I blocked maybe 50 shots or something like that and had I don't know like a couple hundred shot at science are you crazy yeah I guess I had a machine gun firing at me with soccer balls yeah point like 90 miles an hour to town pain oh thanks for being with us haven't seen you for a little bit and x/x dragon plays what's the difference about each sprayer what sprayers that's a good question I mean yeah talk about airless pairs or HVLP sprayer um if you didn't know we are on instagram follow us on instagram it's growing we're over 36,000 followers now Instagram is Idaho painter we love Facebook too which is the Idaho painter check us out there we're still in it's about like two weeks or less we're giving away one of the sprayers on the website design.com um I'm not sure which one it's either the handheld or the hpop one is a $1,800 sprayer and one of them is a $600 sprayer they're Ultramax and then the 9.5 HVLP finished pro we're given away on two separate giveaways and they're only gonna be giving away on our live show you have to be here and you have to be chatting and so when we I'm select the winners that's computer generated we're gonna announce that you got two minutes to say you're here live to claim your prize it has only gone to our live show viewers so there's a lot of people that's entered but I know that many people don't come to our live shows so your odds of winning is really good all you got to do is show up and then we're giving away another sprayer when we're in Texas we're giving away a bunch of stuff in Texas so yeah if you want to come down and meet us and get some free stuff and have a chance to win some really good prizes yeah yeah somebody wanted to know if we use dunn-edwards have you ever used their product no they don't um as far as I know there's no dunn-edwards up around here there they were all over in California I might get used them down there before there's a long long long so no I can't I know Donna Edwards makes really really good products so I do know that so but I can't speak personally for him but they said what date so in in two weeks so February 21st see the 23rd we're gonna gonna be in Galveston Texas so at the paint Expo it does cost some money to enter it and quite a bit of money because they're giving up they're doing a lot of classes and stuff so you can go and learn it's a great place to learn get educated and stuff and so yeah so one of the things about on the paints too is Galveston Texas Galveston Texas is that the VOCs when you when you paint the paint on I mean just while you're painting there's um VOCs being released as a paints dryin um you know from these chemicals that that are in the paint and you know after you apply the paint you know when we walk out of the room we leave the paint's actually dry to the touch but it's still releasing VOCs as it continues to dry and gear so it's not like you know if we want if you're pregnant and we roll the room and we walk out if you're concerned about your vo sea levels and stuff like that and breathing paint fumes well there's still paint fumes that are in the air even after we leave so it's a good idea to open windows allow things that have some ventilation that's a big thing so ventilate well and don't turn on your heater or a conditioner because the ventilation will actually certainly throughout the entire yes we have work went on in our house a couple months ago and we were in here and we could smell the paint like it was being painted it we're on we were lacquering Iowa wasn't some yeah couple my guys for lacquering our vanity and it started smelling in the air pretty bad as we came through the vents but so um you know what what's at what point in time does the paint quit releasing VOCs it's another really good question and and that's gonna be from product to product and you have you have products I know the product on this desk right here it takes thirty days to completely cure and so during that carrying process this product which I know but it's got to have you're quite a bit of VOCs in it you know when does it stop releasing them that's gonna be a good question and there's gonna be a lot of variables you know that that would you know cause that to be shorter or longer so but it's interesting as when we started doing research on it there is not there's not very much data at all other than you know you know no factual data to say this is what it's in the college this is what it's gonna do there's and because there's all just that's why very array of chemicals and stuff that would go into paints and stuff and so you would have to test each one of them and have results for each one of them armando says something our agents that cause malformities two embryos like lead and so that was one thing that we definitely found was that teratogens which he studied to be a doctor so i believe him so thank you teratogens so yeah yeah what's interesting cuz LED so LED um you gotta be let certified to work on homes that have lead-based paints and and we're typically like i think it's like anything 1978 and back that they used to have lou but lead in the paint and let is one of the things that made paint perform better and eventually they figured out that lead was bad for children i'm not necessarily for adults but for children as they're growing up and stuff and so you know the lead if they chewed on their crib that was painted with lead-based paint or they're ingesting lead or if your if your husband or wife is sanding in a room that's got that base paint and the kids in the house you're releasing let in the air they're those kind of things are not good for for anybody really but it's especially for developing children it's not necessarily you know is harmful to adults but it's developing children so um off the subject people are asking about like when are we gonna do the giveaway next monday night will be here we're leaving Wednesday which is the 21st to go to Galveston so if any of you guys in the area come down and see us and then we will be back on the 26th and that's when we're gonna do the lies giveaway on our show the giveaway when you go to the website and you enter the giveaway the giveaway has a date that the giveaway ends and that day is when it's set that's today we're gonna give it away so the one sprayer the day the Monday we come back from Texas we're giving away the one on the live show and then the next Monday we're giving away the next one on the live show but then we're giving away one at the lives the booth yes in Galveston Texas so it's the only way the only way to enter to win is you have to go to our website the idaho painter calm and you got to enter to win there that's the only way you're gonna win one of those fairs and you gotta just click a few buttons you have to be I mean it was confusing to one person but you have to be a subscriber to our YouTube channel I think so you and once you are subscriber to our YouTube channel it allows you to do a couple other things to get multiple in crazy just being a subscriber will give you one entry but if you want more we have some stickers and I think we should write the number on the back just for old times sake and then do that guess it mm-hmm I think so if anybody wants a sticker we're gonna put write a couple numbers um how long you can give away an Idaho painter sticker I've shown that and we package up together yeah you're taking too much time yeah if you write it where people see remember people people are really good they can totally they can toys see you're right and they're pretty smart well we have a smart audience so they're those two numbers what does that do you I mean one person gets the - oh okay so we'll just do the first two people we see number okay here we go from all you gonna do is from one from Titus in it to John John's watchin from 1 to 50 the first is a tuner still first two people to guess number get two stickers so now that and tone would be John yeah but maybe so so John I'm John fired off a question that he saw on here John Harrell John heralds got a question asked if we have dress codes smoking policies and general employee rules so that's a very good question John so all right now people are doing the numbers thing John's watching episode John Zook did you text you on the number yep so the first two people with that number John's I saw one I saw Armando guessing main 10 but I don't know if he was first I don't know you don't see so I'm dressed cuz we'll get…
