What happens here

This DIY project demonstrates how to replace an old, multi-turn water shut-off valve with a modern, more efficient quarter-turn valve. The process covers methods for removing the old compression fitting, cleaning the pipe, installing the new valve with a new ferrule and thread sealant, and finally connecting a braided flexible supply line, ensuring a leak-free setup.

got the barrel exposed, and then nut. So we can try a couple different methods to taking this off. The first is the Replum method. By taking these pliers, grabbing the barrel and wiggling back and forth. If that doesn't work, you can use a hacksaw and split the nut, remove it, or you can get a tool like one of these feral pullers, clean up your pipe, grab a new valve, preferably quarter turn, nut, put on a new feral, always like to put a little mega lock on. You'll feel it start to tighten and get nice and hooked up there. This valve comes with a 3-8 nut and feral, but we are going to be hooking this back up with a braided flex supply line hand tight at no more than one full turn afterwards. Turn the water back on, give it a test. We're back in business. That is how you change out the old multi turn style valve and install a quarter turn.
