this is kind of what we're known for this is the difference in what we do it gives people a chance to not be bored with it they don't want to get bored because they spend so much money on these things it needs to be a piece art kind of compared to the other rvs that you see around these just have more time put in them we have a niche because we're the ones doing the more challenging paint work there's a lot of shadowing on these there's patterns on them it's a it's a top corner to bottom corner fade versus just being isolated to a single stripe so if you look there you start black the top corner and it transitions all the way to white and there's nothing to break it off in order to make that easy after that you're putting all the patterns on taking risks of getting blowouts or or some blade marks or anything that could screw that up so this is why it you know it's steady for us because nobody wants to try to fix it you got so much to talk about these guys they buy these things and every time they come out to their coach they see something different what lighting you're in it looks different you know there's ghosting like all over the place you see this pattern here and then it fades out to nothing see all that yeah scroll pattern it goes away to nothing and then you got gold flake cut it on top and you got a little more bronzy pattern towards the bottom then you got to go back in and you add black stripes without ruining what you did in the first place are the different levels of detail like thought about beforehand to be seen like all right you're not going to see this one when in low light but this will come out in the sun is that part of it yes because there's a lot of colors that you pick it looks different you know depending on what lighting you're in for since the pearls will do that a lot for you if you've got flip-flop pearls you've seen that yeah the world before you don't see it until you get a sunlight on it like for instance at night it might just glow like a black and then all of a sudden you get a little moonlight on it and then holy crap looks blue so yeah it does so this is one here we're just getting ready to fix up plus it's not very old so here's the new uh liberty codes right here this is how they come to us they're all in primer um liberty's already done a little bit of work to the coach a little bit of prep work for their build and then they bring it here before they do the interior of the coach to get it painted when they come in before the paint job everything's all empty it's all just structure in here at the time that we do them that's crazy i always knew these were completely made of stainless but you never get to see it yeah it's still wild isn't it everything in here being stainless and all that so when they say these buses sort of last forever i guess they're probably right you know i think so um step on up in there this is different yeah so this is how they are when they come in this is how uh pravo builds a chassis um the converters will order what slideouts they want and uh then you get it uh just like well you see here this is what prego's done so the bed frame and all this is already there and uh this is what they get this is what the converter starts with then i don't think most people don't know that prevost doesn't make the motorhomes no they don't understand that you know framo makes a lot of uh greyhound buses i would call it you know tour buses things like that that are just you know rows of seats and all windows so we prep them down in this end of the building and all that that's our painting bring in air here [Music] around the other end we're doing a couple of buses at a time easily you know and then i'm usually even fixing one somewhere here in the middle doing a repair buses if it's cross draft do you have a system where you like paint stuff on the back first and then work to the front or oh absolutely how does that work well i like to follow the airflow so as much as we can we start to spray in the back and we follow that airflow forward so all the yellow you see on here that is the stencils that we produce up front that's what lays out the paint job it's like it printed as one big piece and put on there so all the spacing is the same or they laid out individually that it gets printed in basically three strips because of the size of the bus the size of the material we can deal with so it takes three rows of material to get that laid out sized up where there's points that are always on the bus there's intersections here that are on every bus and we have little little hexes that we drop right on there that's how we line all this up so we have two different colors of pin stripes going on there right now we have uh kind of this uh goldish color pinstripe and we have white pinstripes both on here and that's what we're working on right now we're getting all that laid out here this one here is getting laid out also this just has one color of pins on it see all these pencils going on that just gives us our layout so right now we're getting ready to spray the whole front of this bus black we just hang a little bit of paper so we can get ready to start spraying that and then we'll cover that color up in a sense it'd be about like a coloring book once we have all the lines now you're filling in your blanks in between all the lines [Music] a blown up rendering of this just so we can get a look here a little better at the baits and the things going on but you kind of see all this coming together right now you can see all these stripes and then how much work is going to be left inside of them yet from start to finish how long does one of these take um liberty picks up a finished bus from us every three and a half weeks so they're bringing a brand new bus and they're picking the finished one up i've always got two buses of theirs in process i'm painting one and i'm prepping one as soon as we finish one they bring me another brand new one to start on years ago we made a lot of boats anything you see around here is like i say it's all things that has been painted here when was the first frevo that came through here what did that start to pick up aaron hi when did we start with the liberty coach really 11 2011. 2011 we started doing all their production prior to that we did some special jobs for them so someone drives the bare shell down here with that cardboard on the front yeah and then you guys right here you're going on it yeah they bring them in with the uh protect shield on the front they gotta drive a good bit different when they're empty versus finished like these things how much do they weigh with nothing in them you have any idea i have no idea no idea i'm sure they're heavy even empty yeah and they're real heavy once they fill them up yeah they probably have a little more performance when they're empty huh so if someone brings a helicopter in here you just have this stuff going on and wheel in the helicopter and do that too yeah we'll land the helicopter up front you land them right in the parking lot and then you put wheels on them and you're able to roll them in you grab them by the tail and you roll them around all of them really have a lot of pearls and flakes and different things in them this one here it shows up a little more on this gold here and it's just all pearl um even the background colors all pearl in it too people don't uh don't even realize what all's there until they get it out in the sun and customer a lot of times they'll catch something uh in the sun it'll catch their eye and they'll go wow i didn't even know that was there uh i didn't pick up on it before or i never saw it in this light before and so uh people continue to pick up on different things that are in their paint job then just looking at this pattern you can see how much work it is just to make those stencils um to cut all this and to weed it out and get it ready for us to use as a paint mask there's a lot of time and effort goes into that already oh yeah too i've made decals on a vinyl cutter before and imagine picking out every little thing in there and not lifting these corners like that's just every little thing and then to do it you know over 40 feet of bus you know 45 feet of bus yeah yeah a lot of people uh nowadays they do have plotters cutters at home they do make stickers but we're kind of doing the same thing just expanding i don't even know how long that would take could pick all that out that works man because if we're not painting rvs we're painting boats for not painting boats painting cars painting motorcycles painting anything you can imagine really we have probably gone through i'd say six or seven different brands before i ever finalize on one formula and this stuff really does work well dean loucks you know we've all heard of the guy he's got 30 years in this and this is what he approves his products exclusive ceramic coating with his own title on it but again you know you need to have a little bit of experience to get it on there so you don't screw up your whole job you promote proper use of products too like using proper pads proper lighting and you actually do a job and don't be getting the brushes on your cars guys don't put them through the car wash we got mixers and toasters have some helmets if you're a sports fan we paint guns we paint everything anything you can imagine can be painted so if someone walked in here right now with a toaster it's like this is my toaster it's my favorite toaster i want coolest paint job on my toaster how much would that cost oh that's questionable depends on how detailed we want it to be well how about this one here what would something like that run yes that's again that's a good question this one's all free freehand and that's just you know dean lonk's going at it as an airbrush but i'd put a probably twelve hundred dollar bill on that and this mostly time the product is uh quality we're dealing nothing but kitchenaid so it's quality but i can't tell you it depends on time it's all time here's a little more simpler one this is a little more goofy and this is just a fade with speckles you know that might cost you 800 bucks okay it depends on what you want it's all comes down to time that one would match my upholstery yeah these guys here the problem is just getting them ready you know you start off with a 250 dollar stand mixer and then how much time goes into it we got to design it we got to cut the stencils you got to lay it out and then you go through the whole series of doing the cool colors lots of layers at the end of the day it's a conversation piece even if you don't use it it's sitting there and get something to gawk at and say that is the coolest thing it matches everything you have we're talking about it right now so i guess it worked is andrew steele in here i don't know if he is i don't know if anybody really treats this thing as as they should dean's been an active r design owner for 30 years but he's been an artist since he's a kid he's a he's a salesman he's a designer we are the tools to get the job done how long have you been here i've been working for dean for almost 18 years wow you know he keeps us busy he's hungry he's out there doing what we can trying to influence the world how did you start making changes doing this stuff i studied graphic design in college but i knew i didn't want a desk job and i just been i've been friends with mark since i was 16 i'm 38 now and i just kept seeing what they're doing i was like this is all real cool let me be a part of this what do you what do you do do you are you designing them or are you i know i'm uh i run a project manager run production so i'm in charge of the liberty paint jobs okay gotta make sure they get done and then mark is he's the one who does all the traveling any touch-ups that you necessary work at the end of the job yeah no we're busy dean's really good at uh making sure we have the job just filling up with water before i hit the road these guys are super cool you know i'm just meeting my junker classing up the joint normally i don't pull into places i feel like this is a jumper but when you pull into somewhere like here that's got you know almost three million dollar previous sitting everywhere then i kind of feel like it's a little bit of a junker i'm freaking race car got a flat tire i'm just i'm lowering the property value out here you know let's check out this finished one well my water is filling up here a little closer this is an h345 so it's got that little tag on there i actually didn't know that uh dean's place here did all of the new liberties i thought he was just like a custom kind of dude but this is some serious stuff they're doing every new liberty that comes out comes through this place so you got some look out this way it looks flat then you come over here and you see the flake that's really neat this is a serious unit right here i'm just now finishing editing all that video from uh dean laughs shop in indiana while i'm sitting in none other than the newell factory parking lot in oklahoma um i was at dean's about a week ago and since then i've been to omaha nebraska for the 1320 video ice cream cruise hung out with those guys all week get the cruise all that stuff on the video with that dude in blue the escalade which is bob on the trailer behind me right now so there's gonna be all kinds of stuff coming up from that in addition to the stuff that i'm gonna film here tomorrow which i'm super pumped about i've been here before but i didn't film anything but they got uh allegedly dale earnhardt jr is old newell for sale in here it's an o2 and i really want to check that out so i'm hoping that we can do that i'll show you a little bit of inside the factory and just you know some of the ones on the lot you see what's going on here what what a newell looks like versus prevost and this is kind of a place that most people don't really get to see the guts of so i'm here to change that make sure you hit that subscribe button so you don't miss the videos coming up of this place and all the 1320 stuff in omaha it's gonna be a good time and i can't wait for some day for you to say that you were here in the beginning
