What happens here
The installation of asphalt shingles begins with the starter course along the eave. The builder places starter shingles (or standard shingles with the tabs cut off, flipped, and installed along the drip edge) and secures them by hand-nailing with a hammer. These shingles form the base for the first full course and ensure proper water shedding and sealing at the edge of the roof.
Goal: Establish the first course of shingles at the eave for proper sealing and water run-off.
